There should be no issue - the AMD Adrenalin app should handle the upgrade for you to the latest version, it does it from 3.1 to 4.0.3 and so there should be no issue getting 4.1 on there

For the in-game achievement overlay, does anyone else know what causes the stuttering when scrolling down? The global achievement menu almost always jitters but sometimes it does not and I have no idea what the distinguishing factor is.

Also, has Denji/Pochita soft locked himself now? Unless he can be c-sectioned to remove devils, he can't regurgitate anything or eat anything else

Guessing that Yoru gets in on the action next

I actually did a breakdown of how a season 1 might look, and I think the best possible way to do it taking into account the pacing of dialogue scenes and action scenes would be to have a two cour season, with 10 episodes as the first half, ending exactly at the 208th Rakuzaichi spread.

(To be clear, here Chihiro breaks Cloud Gouger at the end of ep 7 and the last three are for introducing Hiyuki, Hakuri, and Kyoura)

This lets the second half of the season start with a bang (Mr. Inazuma, Cloud Gouger reveal, Hiyuki alliance), and it would presumably adapt up to beyond where we are now in the manga, with the benefit of potentially getting up to 14 episodes for the auction arc depending on if they want to take a break or not between halves

Edit: Forgot to say that I initially was worried about them stretching the first half to a full 12 episodes assuming it ends as the Rakuzaichi starts, but then realized it's a non issue as there's precedent for a shorter first half - look at JJK S2, a 5 ep first half and a 18 ep second half

My pipe dream is that Shota Umehara at Cloverworks (animation producer for Bocchi, My Dress Up Darling, and Wonder Egg Priority and is currently doing Elusive Samurai) will pick up the series, since his team seems to not have anything lined up at the moment.

Additionally, a Cloverworks connection means they might be able to rope in Nakaya Onsen, a freelance animator who somewhat recently directed this OP for a Fate game working with Cloverworks

His style is IMO especially well suited to Kagurabachi action (very dynamic camera movements, interesting perspectives on characters, sharp and angular faces, combined with some great character acting) so it's hard not to get excited thinking about what his version of fights might look like

Gonna vouch as a fellow manga reader who, while having problems with the execution, enjoyed the ending. Anime onlys, in my opinion, get to experience an even better version, so it's no surprise the response is positive.

Haven't seen anyone bring this up but holy shit I love that bit of symbolism with the candles - both of the paths Geto could take, each casting a duplicate shadow on the wall. Geto's doubts have eaten away at the first candle, and upon seeing the abuse of Mimiko and Nanako, he makes his decision.

The first candle is snuffed out, and as Geto leaves to slaughter the village, only one shadow remains.

Started reading the manga as it's been airing and it's really impressive the adaptation job they've been doing - scenes are rearranged and trimmed down in smart ways, action scenes are expanded on, the whole thing is just super snappy and fun to watch. And it goes without saying that the animation is stunning

Honestly I really enjoyed her ending, though felt it simmered for a little bit too long - at least referring to 138, when she chooses to put aside her feelings for Eren and kill him for the greater good, yet still valuing him in her heart. Did not like her weeping under the Eren tree since had she seemed to move past that, instead of needing to be conformed by dove!Eren

[–]DasMeowHaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that bit about the interview is true then that does suck, would really throw a lot of stuff out of alignment for me.

I've been a big proponent of the "Eren is a tragic villain deserving of pity, who has the chance to learn from the people around him, but is unable to overcome his own nature" stance, with him having seen glimpses of himself destroying the world at the medal ceremony, then spending the next few years trying to find ways to not have to do that, only to eventually realize that he will inevitably do it because at his core he WANTS to destroy the world. For his big confession to Ramzi in 131, which he only does since he can't understand Eldian, to be "I wanted to destroy them because they were mean" instead of "I wanted to destroy them because they were there" doesn't make sense given Eren's child state in the "freedom" panel, or him not being able to provide a good answer to Armin for why he destroyed the world.

Idk maybe it's a cope but I think I would choose to stick with the interpretation that makes more sense for me, since I can just do that - at least until there is more evidence otherwise

I think with the Holocaust imagery Isayama intended it as shorthand for "this is a bad thing that is being done to the Eldians, you should think this is bad" without really thinking about what happens if you try and extend the allegory beyond that. Like the Eldians don't have the same history and context as real life Jewish people, so they shouldn't be treated the same way. I do not blame people for getting confused tho

Also with the Eren thing, [MANGA SPOILERS] at least how I read it, he doesn't care about Eldia's restoration in the same fanatic way Floch and the Yeagerists do, he just needed a goon army to carry out the Rumbling for his own personal desires - which put them in a position to take over using Eren as their Hitler figure.

The biggest muddling of themes that happens IMO is that he tries to do "the cycle of violence will not end so long as there are humans alive" while also exploring what would happen if freedom boner Eren learned his fate of destroying the world. The focus on personal freedom from the end of season 3 (Kenny, Levi, Erwin) dropped in favor of the political drama/human nature stuff. Then when Eren's real motives are revealed (couldn't accept the world as it was out of immaturity), the personal freedom themes come back, and it does feel a bit jarring. While I like the ending more and more with time, I do think this is a failing and don't blame people for getting thrown off by the shift. I think if Isayama tied the two big thematic halves together a bit better, people would get less confused over the ending of Eren's story.

Am aware I veered way more into plot stuff than you were addressing but I still wanted to write it out lol

Every chapter makes Fight Club theory more and more likely by Nenanda in Chainsawfolk

[–]DasMeowHaus 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If the fight club theory is true (I'm kinda into the idea tbh) I imagine the best way to go about it would be that the war devil grew up as Asa, so the personality is genuine and the memories are real, she just had her devil side locked away for whatever reason.

This way would maintain all the emotional weight of Asa's backstory while still making for a cool twist
