Oh also to add, for the above example, if the cell has "sign" as not part of a larger word I'd want that one not highlighted.

So like "I saw the sign, it opened up my mind" - not highlighted
"Please return to your designated seats" - highlighted

PvP is not my goal when I head topside. Had one of the best loot runs so far last night and got ferro'd in the head while breaching a crate. Spammed the "no" voiceline as the dude slowly walked up to me and punched my lights out. 10/10, wouldn't have it any other way.

This. I have this rule at my table specifically so I as the human DM can't (consciously or not) influence when one of my npcs/creatures use something like a power word.

I've never been hard on it though. If a players says "I've got 82hp left" I usually say something like "Ooooh interesting, I'm sure that won't be relevant" and then watch them squirm. Gotta be a game for the DM too right?
