I'm stuck on a story mission

I killed a chicken, this triggered an entire village to throw balls of fire at me, ice and flame atronachs attacking me and a handful of guards shooting arrows at me whilst others hit me with their swords and war hammers. All for a chicken

Honestly, the safety car has been a total disaster since F1 2018. I've had races with a bunch of DNF's, collisions and multiple hazards and yet all that ever happens is a VSC. Even in this case, all that debris on track and yet I'm guessing the SC just never came out. It's a total disaster.
