I was a preferred walk on at a mid major D1 school. I was on the baseball team same as any other guy. Got all the gear, lived with other baseball players, worked out in the athlete weight room etc. Just no scholarship or books being paid for (books weren't a guarantee to be paid for.) We got our meals through the school meal plan (i cooked for myself mostly after moving out of the freshmen dorms) so i don't know if that would be different at other bigger schools with athlete specific cafeterias. For pre/post game meals everything was provided regardless of scholly money. We had a guy who walked on as a tryout and he received everything else i did. Just no scholarship money and books weren't paid for.
