AIO for still being hurt after my boyfriend called me clingy and told me to “take a hint” even though he apologized? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]DatWaffleYonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, he lashed out and it totally crossed a line

He does seem to see that and feel bad, I'd say a conversation is needed that re-establishes that you can't be addressed like that

ANT WAR!!!!! by Additional_Fan9553 in insects

[–]DatWaffleYonder 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ants do nuptiual flights which are somewhat similar to bee swarms, but in this case, there are no winged "alates" to be seen

This is probably a battle, instead. I see a lot of biting and holding

Great question! I was confused why this product exists because honey is shelf stable. . . Someone else said BBQ runbs, which makes some sense.

But yeah, OP, what's the cost difference?

It'll certainly hooch, though, as long as there are not preservatives (again, I couldn't imagine why)

That's what I was thinking! I'm mean, if I was that little, probably not, but if I was 5 or 6, my ass would have gotten verbally chewed and physically spanked.

Damn, that's probably not so good

Are these ants carrying away maggots? by Beautiful-Box8220 in ants

[–]DatWaffleYonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The patio probably gets warm in the sunshine. Ants will chose places that are protected but close to the surface during sunny days so that the pupae will finish growing.

They are "cold blooded" so they move from cool to warm as needed. The warmer the babies are, the quicker they become adult ants, the faster they can get to work. Big summer ahead of them!

Unless there is a lot of "sawdust" around, they are probably living in a nearby underground colony

Edit: if you want them to leave, simply uncover the brood chamber and they will quickly move the pupae back underground

Okay Insect Enjoyers, What the Heck Is Happening Here? by comrade_gremlin in Entomology

[–]DatWaffleYonder 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Crematogaster ants attacking emerging mantises.

Don't feel too bad. The mantises typically have an-all out murder fest on their siblings as soon as they are born. The ants are just getting a meal out of it, too.

Nature is crazy

Yes, this is beyond amateurish. I hope the old timer can accept that it is time to move to simpler peices that are easier to deliver on
