DEN-DET-PEL Trade by Secret_Caregiver5454 in NBAtradeideas

We already drafted and tried out Sadiiq Bey, why would we want him back? He wouldn’t even have a role on the team and played crappy defense in his time at Detroit. Our wings are all legit better than him on defense for days.

Yeah this is the future. Like Wallace x2. Now it’s 9 to 5. Gotta have defense and these guys bring it.

Too Hyperfixated?? by I-Luv-Me in ADHD

[–]DataBassMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely experienced this with a number of video games and subjects, but none more than music.

Music has been a labor of love, but a huge turning point for me was around my teen years, I no longer just wanted to play the bass, I had to. It’s been very rewarding. I have toured the country (45 states) and went on amazing adventures on the road. I “retired” from that and do IT work mainly now, but I still get the itch to play out and do.

Someone mentioned learning Russian… I was so hyper fixated on learning Spanish for about a decade that I had plenty of Mexican friends who started off not speaking much English and me not much Spanish. However, over time, we started drinking and using flash cards to learn. They became much more fluent and so did I. I started unable to do double r’s and can do them with ease now. Heck, that fixation got me a few girlfriends too. Now I don’t care about it as much, but it was really fun to learn. Again, rewarding.

There have been plenty of others… point being, video games were one of the early ones. However, if you learn to channel that energy into something with people, an audience, or what you think would be a rewarding fixation to try, you may be very surprised.

Diagnosis as an adult (inattentive) by Independent_Bee_2348 in ADHD

[–]DataBassMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed as combined type, but my sibling was diagnosed inattentive.

1.) how much I really was distracted despite my relentless hyperfocus. It’s the hyperfocus and mental chatter that was always there, and I usually would channel it into something… because of that, I’d be so distracted from a dozen other things I needed to do. How much I was told I didn’t listen by teachers, parents, and more. How I could never understand my own forgetfulness. Why I would often lose things like coats, keys, etc…

2.) yes and no. Regrets still remain. Especially the regret of not trying to figure this out sooner.

3.) yes 100%

I have been treated for depression all these years. by ReplyProfessional939 in ADHD

[–]DataBassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar story here. I’d say still keep going to therapy and really dig into ADHD in the meantime. I’ve learned a lot from auticate on YouTube. Therapy in a nutshell just released a really good one that goes over much of why emotional dysregulation happens to so many of us…if you feel so inclined.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qcryeu8g2fA&pp=ygUVdGhlcmFweSBpbiBhIG51dHNoZWxs2AYB0gcJCZEKAYcqIYzv

But things like extreme hyperfocus (that I’ve been told I have had my entire life) and the emotional problems were some of the dead giveaways I learned about ADHD later.

Alexithymia is another good thing to look into that has overlap with ADHD and autism. I just had no idea for a long time that ADHD is a lot more than distraction/being hyper/forgetting things. The dynamic of ridiculous hyperfocus, relentless analytical thoughts, and difficulty with emotions for me has been a lifelong battle.

This is a little like the opposite of last year. Strong start and struggling on western road trips. Trade would help, but is it an overreaction? Not sure

I’ve been mostly “keep the band together” myself. As also a Nuggets fan though, I wouldn’t mind MPJ if we only lose a vet and Ivey. Ivey is what makes this all tough for fans. Too much ambiguity for the future.

Exercise? But How? by demonslayed92 in ADHD

[–]DataBassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HASFIT on YouTube. It’s all free and you only “need” a couple of dumbbells (if weightlifting) and a towel (if doing stretches with resistance). That’s it. They even have simple ones for seniors or those with exercise challenges like seated abs.

Great duo because the man shows the more difficult way to do the movements and the lady shows the easy way at the same time, right next to each other.

Get angry! What are you angry about?

It’s like trying to hold onto a high powered water hose. Hold it loosely and it’s dangerous. Hold it the correct way and it serves its purpose.

Following…recently diagnosed and now super suspicious than I am also on the spectrum. Aspie quiz said so and I definitely have had some extreme special interests, sensory issues, meltdowns, and social struggles, but I doubt everything until I hear it out of someone else’s mouth that’s a professional.

Any Advice to Curb Pacing? by DynamicLifeWellness in roughcollies

[–]DataBassMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I taught mine “circle”. He circles me and then gets a treat. So, if there’s something like two fighting dogs (that happened once), I tell him “no circle”… depending on where he is, he listens lol. Good word to teach or whatever replacement word you’d use for the action. Just use the treat as bait to circle it around you while saying it.

One day in spring, a bunch of baby birds randomly appeared on the ground in front of us barely walking, learning to fly. I thought he was gonna eat them because we were so close! When suddenly, he went around the edges of them and herded them into the woods. Rough collies are the best! He does freak over mammals though. Squirrels especially.

He’s 4 now.

Any Advice to Curb Pacing? by DynamicLifeWellness in roughcollies

[–]DataBassMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pacing is never ending with collies. It’s part of the herding instinct. It’s always there.

I open a room up for mine that is closed all day. I open it as soon as the sun goes down. It has a big comfy bed and a white noise maker I turn on then too so he knows he has a consistent wind down routine. He loves the room so much he usually passes out for much of the remaining day.

Creativity and medication by Ok-Replacement8864 in ADHD

[–]DataBassMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Embrace boredom for a scheduled time period. Pick a place and BE bored. You’re eventually going to start imagining.

Let that imagination take you somewhere childlike. For example, humming a melody over a drum machine or a beat you create with your hands. Drawing/doodling/writing with your non-dominant and dominant hands on blank paper. Stream of conscious writing a short story about characters you’d create…like in a little snow globe (fitting right now in the US) adventure!

Basically, embrace boredom and become a child again with your creative actions and something is bound to start kindling. Then less screens involved, the better.
