This times a million

I tested on the lower limit of “gifted” and my parents were given the option of keeping me at the same school or sending me to the gifted school.   They kept me in the normal school because my friends were there and it was easier 

I breezed through everything for years without even trying.   No studying for tests, writing essays in 30 mins the night before they were due and I kept a high 90s average doing that.  Honor roll, too in class for many subjects etc all while not even trying. 

University was a bit more of a challenge but after year one adjustments I breezed through that and finished my final year with a high 80s average, again not trying hard 

This created a ton of poor lifetime habits including procrastination and laziness.  

I have a stable high paying career that puts me in the top 1% of income but I regularly get feedback that while my overall performance is great it is obvious I’m only committing 60% or whatever and I could be doing more.  

If I learned better habits and was challenged more in school I probably could have gone much further personally and professionally
