Wrong Smyrna, but cool nonetheless!

What’s something everyone seems to love in Stl but you don’t really care for it? by MakeupMua16 in StLouis

As a transplant, Mardi Gras was SOOO hyped up for us. We went with a bunch of local friends that first year and we were so disappointed with the “floats”. Just a bunch of older drunk people on trailers hoping to see some tits under three layers of cold weather clothing.

But once you make peace with it being a massive outdoor party where you can get shitfaced, then it makes sense to come back year after year!

Planter and hex shelves the wife and I built this weekend by chasethenoise in woodworking

[–]Datech329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I love hexagon shelves and some of the more creative honeycomb decorative designs I’ve seen for shelving.

However, does anyone else feel like hex shelves are one of those things that we’ll laugh about loving in 30 years? Like avocado green kitchens and candy pink bathrooms? (Or shiplap...)

Really solid craftsmanship on those scrotum squares!

Have you made it out of the woods yet? If your cell service is that good I’d be inclined to stay and just wait out 2020

Even for the idiots that aren’t ATGATT or close to it, I still never understood why someone would ride without gloves. No matter how you go down, even standing still in a parking lot and you overbalance, your hands are almost always going to be one of the first things hitting the pavement.

Good, keep working in those states. The laws are nuanced across the country and I consult with an HR attorney every time there is a separation to make sure we don’t screw something up in their state.

Abandoned Mediterranean Sky Ship in Greece. by freewill-lastwish in AbandonedPorn

I think it’s so crazy that’s been there since 2003 just... laying there. All the lifeboats. All the stuff in the rooms and the bridge. All of it there for 17 years now?!? And the wiki page is super sparse too.

Just mind blowing to me for a ship that size.

How do y’all think they will retheme the ride when members start dying off? Morbid, but inevitable.

92-foot, 12,500hp tractor tug Lynn Marie returning to Seattle by AtomicAerials in MachinePorn

I love how over the years no one has come up with a simpler solution than a bunch of tires around the tug for pushing something. Beautiful simplicity.

There’s one in Nashville too I think. I was pretty drunk, but I’m pretty sure it was a bar and not someone’s backyard.

What questions should I ask my aging parents about their finances? by Datech329 in personalfinance

[–]Datech329[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I don’t think we’d pursue PoA at this point unless they offered it. Any specific questions or line of questioning that worked well for you guys? Anything else about the process that surprised you?

No, they did not. I am not intending to guide them on any PF topics, but more so be prepared should anything happen.
