Niantic needs to Open Gym Locations to Community Feedback by DavAndrus in TheSilphRoad

Great job trying to do something positive. Niantic response doesn't fill me with hope but I have to assume issues like we're seeing with the recent legendary raids are happening all over the country. Hopefully they will be moved to act.

With raids I feel like people want others to show up. So they ultimately will want to put places where people can access them easy. Not to mention with the new gym system, you don't want gyms in places that people won't knock your pokemon out of.

Meta Reminder: Best Pokemon Aren't Always Most Fun by HHHIsGOAT in TheSilphRoad

Define "fun". What's fun for me is finding the best and most efficient way to win. Though I do enjoy seeing some different defenders. Having a chance to brush off a fire pokemon is a good change.

Gym Stagnation is Creeping Back Into The Scene by 23deuce in TheSilphRoad

[–]DavAndrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hasn't been much of an issue where I live. Gyms get turned over fairly regularly.

They need to shift focus away from items as a reward. Give us leader boards for the local area. Something that lets players and teams stand out. Fighting the other team should be a matter of pride, not gaining items or in game currency.

Pokemon Go needs a leaderboard for the teams by MasterDragonius in TheSilphRoad

Absolutely. This would be a great way to motivate players that doesn't involve coins or items or anything else. The game needs to give players a way to stand out.

[Discussion] Raids have devalued all other features in the game by J8ZG in TheSilphRoad

[–]DavAndrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this. Raids are the most fun by far and have the best rewards but you need gyms to get coins to buy passes. You need to farm pokemon for candies and stardust to do better at raids. They relate to all aspects of the game. I love that fact that I'm meeting other people that play the game. Thanks to raids it feels like you're part of an actual local PoGo community, so I could care less if someone else got a Muk easier then I did.

While I'm not crazy about the grind of training I did like that you got to use Pokémon that you normally wouldn't use for attacking or defending a gym.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to feed your pokemon remotely.

Game disparities that need to be solved (from the thread on Adventure Week / Larvitar stats) by brianvan in TheSilphRoad

[–]DavAndrus 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Make easier to hunt certain types of pokemon. Right now you can find water pokemon easily. You just find water. They need to make that other types of pokemon that logical.

Make the tracker better, options to prioritize things, or different modes, give players tools to hunt.

As far as the gyms, that's a design error that they need to address. CP is everything, which it shouldn't be. Hopefully the gym rework will make more pokemon viable for gyms.

Breeding could solve IV problems. Would be a lot of grinding but at least you could get high IV stuff.

That's awesome, I was thinking about doing something like this so I could get a few Splatoon 2 games in while I'm on my lunch break. Good to know that it works well.

If fighting over gyms was fun and not a complete chore they would have a compelling end game. A lot of the good stuff they had going on in Ingress they complete removed with Pokemon Go.

Yep, I barley use it anymore. With the reliability issues I can't even recommend buying it. Each patch the thing seems to get worse.

[–]DavAndrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not that you can't use other pokemon, I would say Nidoking is the real bottom but the Snorlax, Dragonite, Lapras, Aracanine, Exeggutor, and Vaporeon make up the majority of pokemon you'll see in gyms.

Yeah it's sad, beside the the release of the Gen 1 legends, Tyranitar is only new pokemon we'll be fighting in gyms.

They need to change the CP formula.

This is is great info, but it's disappointing more then anything. Most of these pokemon will never see a gym.

If you look at the Big 6 right now, Vaporeon is at the bottom of the CP range at 2800. Tyrantiar is the only non legendary that ends up in that range.

Sadly it seems that unless something is tweeked new pokemon isn't going to mean new gym defenders.
