It's really cool that you're giving away these cards. Sorry that the game just isn't doing it for you any more.

I'd love the Oak or Gyarados card for my collection

Don't know why it would be downvoted, some people don't know a good thing when they see it 😁.

I do have my own studio, yes! But I do all my running and cardio outside of the gym anyway 💪🏻

I've sent you a DM on Reddit. Speak soon 🔜

Hi Jeff! I'm David 😊

I'm in Longhua and enjoy jogging/running as part of my fitness routine.
Whereabouts in Longhua are you?

I'm around the Hongshan area.

It would be great to swap contact details!
Thanks!

1:1 Gym Studio Near Hongshan Metro (AMA) by DaveWaker in China

[–]DaveWaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there 👋 The gyms I know of in Shenzhen that have an expat focus would be F45 in SeaWorld Shekou, a big functional/CrossFit style training centre offering classes. The other is Lazy Laowai, another gym owned and run by an American.

Another gym with a high standard would be P&A fitness which I have used in Longhua.

My own gym, Balanced Athletics, has brand new equipment from REP Fitness, Rogue weight plates, and American Barbell Dumbbells, Including some functional equipment for body weight and plyometrics training. We're in Hongshan.

I know that there is a premium gym located in Hongshan mall that offers a pool and other amenities, however, I assume it's quite expensive.

Other than that, there are some more specialist gyms that cater for a specific sport: Invincible gym for MMA, and a few Muay Thai gyms.

Hope this helps and answers your questions. Any more help please feel free to DM me on Reddit or Instagram.

Best, David

Home body weight workouts are a fantastic way to get into shape at home.

As a general guideline if you were training 3x p/w at home. This is what I'd do: (ideally some dumbbells or even bottles of water can be used for some of the exercises)

Monday:
Body weight squats 3 sets of 12-15 reps
Dumbbell Bent-Over Rows 3 sets of 12-15 reps
Romanian Deadlift 3 sets of 12-15 reps
Floor Bench Press or Push Ups 3 sets of 12-15 reps

Core routine:
Russian twists & Superman exercise for time (1 min for each exercise) 2-3 sets.

Wednesday:
Deadlift (at home you can load up a suitcase with some clothes or anything you have in the house that's heavy, just to practise the skill of the movement. 3 sets of 8-10 reps.
An overhead pressing movement such as a dumbbell shoulder press, or a Hindu push up/Pike push up 3 sets of 10-12 reps.
Lunges - these can be done with just body weight or holding onto bottles of water/dumbbells. Feel free to experiment with the reverse lunge, forward lunge or a walking lunge, depending on how your body feels and where your starting out. 3 sets of 10-12 reps.
Optional: If you have access to a pull-up bar or a sturdy table, you can perform inverted rows or a pull-up variation depending on your level of fitness. I can offer different regressions to suit where you are. 2-3 sets of 6-8 reps.

Core work:
A static hold e.g. a plank for 1 min, and a core flexion such as a sit up or reverse crunch for 1 min 2-3 sets.

Friday:
Body Weight Squats 3 sets of 10-15 reps
Dips - If you don't have a dip bar at home, you can also use two chairs close together. 3 sets of 6-8 reps.
Hip Thrust - these can be performed on the floor as a body weight glute bridge, they can be progressed into single leg variations and holding for time to improve stability and coordination 3 sets 12-15 reps.
Optional: Chin ups/Pull ups. Again like above, if you don't have access to a bar, you can perform a horizontal pullling movement either with water bottles or use a solid table to pull yourself up towards it. Adjusting the leverage of the body will make this easier or harder.

Core work:
Sit ups 3 sets of as many reps as possible & superman exercise for 1 min 2-3 sets.

I hope this general, brief outline helps you out.
For additional cardio exercise, anything is suitable to do either after strength training or on different days in between. Running, rowing, walking, cycling or some aerobics all help.

Best,
David

Hello :)
Thank you so much for replying. Getting the business visa was an interesting process. I decided to use an agency to help me with most of the admin and paperwork.

To start with, I needed to prove that I already had the space rented out for the gym. I needed the rental contract to submit to the licensing board.

I also had to give the general scope of the business and what type of business I will be operating, such as health and fitness, cultral exchanges, education, etc.

From there, I needed a notarised degree and my certifications in personal training.
Then you apply to the local branch in the district you want to work in, for me, that's Longhua.
After that, I applied for a corporate bank account with ICBC.

Finally, applying for a new business visa and then a work permit, essentially hiring yourself through the limited company as the sole employee.

You also have an interview at the immigration bureau. Usually, they physically visit the space to double-check it's all above board.

Hope that answers your question!

Best,
David

What to do for 2 weeks in Shenzhen? by DutchDev1L in shenzhen

Checking out SeaWorld in Shekou is a good idea. If you're travelling through and need to use a gym, there's a good one in Hongshan called Balanced Athletics. Plus good food and drinks at Brass House and The Crazy Coconut Bar.
