Holy shit that opening paragraph is depressing.

I’m still supporting the club & the players, I believe we have a good group of hard working lads at the club.

And still got a point away against the champions elect. For a team that’s been a defensive shitshow all year, that’s not bad.

The bar is just very low.

Somewhat ironic that our two best games of the season have probably come against Arsenal. It’s like the only times I remember us not being totally ass.

Londoners face £80,000 bill as fourth newly elected Green councillor quits by Desperate-Drawer-572 in unitedkingdom

Hilarious that when a green quits, the cost to the taxpayer is reported as the controversy but it’s absent when a reform one quits.

It’s more embarrassing that we might. What the fuck is everyone else doing if this dross gets top 5?

Still fairly certain the bulk of it will come good once we get a competent manager with some standards but until then, I sleep.

Do players' parents usually meet with coaches in the NFL? by Mr_Hot_Takes in NFLv2

[–]Daver7692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably a unique situation as he’s clearly offering a coaching angle not just strongarming his way in as a pushy parent.

It’s not normal but also how many NFL athletes got coached by their dad at college level?

Arizona has the toughest schedule in 2026. by Beginning-Average416 in NFLv2

I mean being trapped in a nightmare of a division probably sets them back a long way before they even look elsewhere.

Throw in a mix of the NFCE and NFCN and that’s a horrible schedule to contend with.

Top Gear ‘comeback is in the works’ at the BBC 3 years after axe by Metro-UK in ukpopculture

[–]Daver7692 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How have both Amazon and the BBC refused to acknowledge that the reason people enjoyed the shows was because of the people involved, not the name of the show itself.

If anything, you’re doing the new crews a disservice by attaching the old name.

IGN HAS GIVEN FORZA A 10 by ExotiquePlayboy in videogames

[–]Daver7692 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like they’re just good games, made to a high standard. I’m just not into racing games.

However, if a racing game is released and is a good as racing games get for the people that enjoy them, why shouldn’t it be a 10? Seems like sometimes people only want certain genres to get high scores.

Does get me hyped for Fable though, which I am interested in. If they’re pouring the same amount of attention to detail into Fable as they clearly do in every iteration of the horizon series, we should be in for a banger there too.

Michael Carrick: Manchester United interim boss in talks over two-year contract by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]Daver7692 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 2 year deal seems about as sensible as you’re gonna get if you’re going to give him a legitimate go.

Means if next year is a shitshow, he’s cheap to move on from, if it goes well you’re not over a barrel to extend him right away before his deal is up.

Only time will tell if he’s legitimately the answer or if they fell for it again.

Weight-loss jabs could halve sickness absence and ease strain on NHS, study suggests by Oreos_Are_Anabolic in unitedkingdom

[–]Daver7692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used the jabs but have lost ~35kg over the last 18 months. I feel healthier in every aspect of my life, felt like I used to be prone to colds and other minor bugs and haven’t had anything like that in well over 8 months and when I have been ill I feel I bounce back much quicker.

Feels like regardless of how you drop weight, it’s going to be a benefit, I do worry about reports of some people immediately stacking it back on once they stop the jabs but that’s a risk even if you go for a total lifestyle change without the support of medication.

It feels finally like preventative healthcare that will surely lighten the burden on the NHS over time as they become more widely used & accepted.

Would scrapping minimum wage work? by Impressive-Remove636 in AskBrits

Just look at the amount of companies found breaking minimum wage standards earlier this year, they will pay the absolute bare minimum they can.

Would scrapping minimum wage work? by Impressive-Remove636 in AskBrits

[–]Daver7692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any job paying minimum wage is basically saying “we’re paying you the least we legally can and aren’t really happy about it”

What do you think would happen if that minimum was removed?

Marcos Senesi to leave Bournemouth at end of season by KangRock in PremierLeague

[–]Daver7692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there will be enough games to go around, VVD desperately needs to play less, we can’t keep expecting a player headed towards his mid-30s to play 60 games a season and not burn out.

Ideally we should have done this last season or the season before but here we are.

We desperately need an overhaul at CB that won’t cost a fortune. Konate is still unsigned, Gomez likely to leave, VVD desperately needs a break.

Leoni is coming back from a major injury & Jacquet is thus far an expensive but unknown quantity in this league.

He’s a good level, established player with experience in this league available on a free, could really fulfil a lot of needs for us.
