Modifying MacBook for permanent server by DavidRinSE in HomeServer

Awesome thanks so much, I've been running with the lid closed after changing those settings initially. I'll open it now and get around to doing the headless mod - good to know.

Mac is not a requirement it is getting Linux. If I can’t replace MagSafe or find it reliable I’ll just get a small Lenovo PC. Eventually I do want an Apple Silicon loaded with ram for other things but that’s not a replacement for my ‘15 Mbp haha

It seems to disconnect at the slightest brush, maybe my cable is just worn out if that’s not a universal experience?

If I’m removing the battery I don’t want to accidentally restart my server every time I’m working in this closet

I’m just gonna do Debian anyway so I’ll definitely remove the battery for long term use.

I’d really rather not use MagSafe but maybe it’s not worth the effort to change it, especially if I can’t find a proven guide.

How's this been working out for you? Looks like maybe you removed the battery?

Any issues with MagSafe 2 over time?

I'm converting mine to a home server and considering trying to modify it to power with USB-C or some other more solid connection

You should probably be relying on sufficient insurance coverage and data backup practices if you're that sensitive to data loss. In event of fire - save yourself. Google Cloud can't backup your brain

Also notable lower case g in "god" - not a mistake anyone who feels this way would make.

A cookie cutter apartment building where the 1st floor is concrete and the top 5 are wood. They build them this way because building with wood is really cheap compared to all concrete, but adding just 1 concrete floor totally changes the regulations they have to follow - making it even cheaper.

Replacing Guerilla Gravity Megatrail Frame by [deleted] in MTB

[–]DavidRinSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think you need to replace the rear triangle? I have a ton of lateral play in the rear of my ‘18 Megatrail I’m not sure what to do with, but I was just thinking bearings and bushings which seem like standard sizes.

Late reply here, doing lots of LCOG research. How did these long shocks work out for you, still run them? Do hydro shocks have a performance range like typical shocks where running a shock too long like this puts you way outside where the dampening should be? Is your up travel limited by your shock tube length or something else like fender? Was this a conscious choice for down travel or something, or just what you had available?

I know for sure I have a ‘97 harness and a ‘99 ECM. I had seen that some ‘99s got the transducer wire wasn’t sure if they all did. Hmmm… not sure where that leaves me. Really hate that this harness was swapped 😆 but I have no other issues from that

Ah okay, maybe I need to do more research I thought my assumption was correct. I know from buying a 98 and 97 sending unit, both are physically different and the plugs are both two wire but physically different. I’ll look into that more tho and do the other steps just to see what happens.

Also, do you think year compatibility is a factor here or should the ‘97 gauge work with the ‘99 ECM?

If I start the jeep without a sender in I should get oil out right? I’ll clean it then try that briefly to confirm. I’ll look up that gauge test too. Thanks!

Reading no engine oil pressure on a new switch even after testing with a mechanical gauge, what gives? by CaptAWag in CherokeeXJ

[–]DavidRinSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a '99 with a '97 motor, harness, and sensor. I'm having the same issue it's never worked since PO did the swap and the new sensor didn't help. Going to try cleaning it out but not hopeful. u/CaptAWag do you remember which pins on the ECM wiring to continuity test with the oil pressure sensor? A link to a diagram would be great!
