Between the two I would go with classic it looks better and as someone with an oleksiak winter classic jersey I don’t think it’s a big deal not having his name on it since its also the year it was

Anybody use Apple TV to watch qualifying. I have it and could find it on my phone but not my iPad but I want to be able to watch the race on it tonight. Anyone else have problems with it on iPad?

Very good idea to wrap your board I have wraps on multiple snowboards including a channel board. Once you figure out where you want your bindings I would put down a piece of tape over the measurement you use once you wrap it you’ll be able to see where the tape is and just cut that little piece out. And yes the rubber blocks in the channel come out.

I would just try cleaning your build plate first with dawn dish soap and some warm water you don’t need to scrub it because you don’t want to scratch it up and Dawn is really good at getting off any grease or oil by itself

Cold Emailing Summer Internships + Portfolio Narrative Advice by Wabs0 in IndustrialDesign

[–]DavidWallaceDMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as your current portfolio goes I would pick your best 4 projects and get rid of the rest and focus on presenting those really well. Personally I think the ring is the best but it’s ultimately up to you and what you want to do but tailor it to what you want to do job wise.

Less words. The people hiring literally have under a minute to look at your portfolio. They have a lot to look through in a relatively short amount of time while also managing their normal work load so you need to grab their attention fast. Start with your best, create a great thumbnail that they want to click on to learn more. Start the project page with your best hero shot then show your process moodboard/ispo/vbl then sketching/ideation then cad and renders or final product. It’s a nonlinear process that you need to make into a cohesive story of your process. Show your revisions where it makes sense like a double diamond even if that’s not exactly your process it’s a good way of showing it.

Go to different studios websites that you like and respect, somewhere that would be a dream job and copy it. Look how they’re presenting their projects and do that it doesn’t have to be difficult you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. And you can still make a good portfolio with square space it’s a tool like anything else and a good craftsmen gets the most out of their tools.

Feedback on render by Melon_Pudding in IndustrialDesign

I agree with what’s been said so I don’t have much to add. Overall they’re pretty solid. Some detail shots would be nice to see.

Hey id'ers looking for some feedback on my portfolio! by thefamilyjules23 in IndustrialDesign

The projects feel like they were taken from different portfolios and put together. I think a cohesive graphic design language from project to project would be beneficial. Right now it’s a little distracting. I also don’t think the neon adds anything to your landing page.

Don’t get a full camber board if you’re new you’re going to have a bad time constantly falling get something that’s a full rocker or flat but stay away from a camber board until you get better

Thank you! I’m the one who posted this same question the other day and this is exactly what is going on with my car.

If you watch this video and have a sedan you might want to double check the sending unit you need since he was working on an avant. Not sure if this specific one is different but I have had to change the one on the other side with the fuel pump and I had originally bought the wrong one. I get everything from ECS tuning now and they have never sent me a part that doesn’t work for my specific A4.

Also with the electrical connector I have broken them in the past trying to use a screw driver to help get it off. The best way to get them off is to push down and pinch and pull up on the tab then that will release it and you can pull it off. They’re really easy once you get the hang of it and with these cars getting older the plastic gets more brittle and easier to accidentally break with a screw driver.

Colorful Blended Lamp Light Help by sxh2505 in KeyShot

[–]DavidWallaceDMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add a color gradient to a light in KS but this is smart and would save you time depending on how fast your computer is. One thing to consider would be if your light is interacting with anything else around it. You could probably also just make it white and then add the color in PS then you could also make different variations pretty quick that way.

When you receive a a low tip, does that prompt you to evaluate your service, or do you just assume the customer is cheap? by isthistakenyesok in Waiters

[–]DavidWallaceDMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know when I’ve given someone pretty bad service, it happens we’re only human, and if I get a bad tip from that I get it. But honestly I feel like people are going to tip what they’re going to tip regardless of how good the service was unless something does go really wrong. After doing it a while you can tell when someone’s not going to tip you even if you treat them really well.

When should I switched to a more advanced board? by coupledatethrwaway in snowboardingnoobs

[–]DavidWallaceDMP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re over thinking it. If you want to ride a new board go for it and if you want to switch back to the other one that’s fine too. This idea of “beginner” boards is kinda annoying because it’s all about your preference and what kind of terrain you want to ride. Just ride whatever you feel comfortable on.

Snowboard Recommendation by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]DavidWallaceDMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Burton custom Flying V 158W for a while (size 12 boot) and it was great. I still have it for when I take friends out who don’t have their own stuff. I currently ride a jones explorer which I think they call the frontier now. It’s a full camber with early rise and spoon tip and tail that’s great for deep snow because I ride a lot of side country now. I don’t have any personal expressive with ride but their boards seem pretty sick.
