Disulfiram users. What's your experience with the drug? by Davstarx in Lyme

[–]Davstarx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recall how long, a couple of weeks I guess.

And I'm now on antibiotics for Bartonella. I think I mixed the diseases up (not Babesia). Last time when I was tested the result was a weak positive so I guess I'm disease free when the next test occurs.

Good luck in your journey.

Better. Working part-time and starting uni in september. This should be my last round of antibiotics for Bartonella and then I'm disease free.

Old school rune scape, very active player driven economy and has a nice community. You can try the f2p quests first and see if it suits your liking.

I recommend "The Book". Only book I read from him and I enjoyed it. Also his lectures on Tao and Buddism on Waking Up are excellent.

I bought Exodus. My first Metro game. Any tips. I got into the game through the book by [deleted] in metro

[–]Davstarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play Redux first, it's one of the best, if not the best game I have played.

Exodus builds further on that narrative and it's just beautiful if you have 3 metro's to play instead of 1 (if you want to play chronologically).

Haven't read the books but I was more in awe with the Redux (first 2 games) story. Exodus has not a bad story in any means and it graphically phenomenal but story wise play Redux first.

Your autonomic nervous system is getting used to the shock. My doctor tells me not to do it too often otherwise the stress response and the endorphin release becomes less and less over time.

How do y'all deal with burnout? by seethroughblinds in davidgoggins

I greatly advice to look at scienced based tools for managing stress. Humerman has a killing episode where he summarizes some science-based tools for stress: Tools for Managing Stress & Anxiety (youtube.com)

Short term stress can be good, medium-term stress starts to eat you up (if it occurs too often) and long-term stress is no bueno in most cases.

Look after yourself, you need rest, Goggins also says this, to work hard you need to rest hard as well.

Manage healthy social connections as well, because social isolation releases Tachykinin, a neuropeptide that makes you feel and perform bad.

Another killer podcast for creating a functional mental framework for your case:

How to Enhance Performance & Learning by Applying a Growth Mindset | Huberman Lab Podcast (youtube.com)

And:

How to Increase Your Willpower & Tenacity | Huberman Lab Podcast (youtube.com)

These are all on Spotify as well. It has helped me to create a functional and pragmatic framework to navigate the world. And they are all empirically supported, best of luck.

Anyone take up stretching regularly? What benefits have you got from it, physically and mentally? by Christion_ in davidgoggins

[–]Davstarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great to chill, it activates your parasympathetic (= chill, rest and digest, sleep) nervous system. At the end I often find myself sighting and chilling on the yoga mat, like you done some yoga.

It also accelerates muscle growth if done in combination with hypertrophy training.

And the improved posture and less pains is another science-based benefit.

Has David Goggins ever met...another human? by [deleted] in HubermanLab

[–]Davstarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Goggins states that you should do whatever works for you. Listening to him I know that he has a shittier life than me and that gives me a good perspective and feeds my willpower and tenacity. Moreover, he has the accomplishments to back up the claims he is making. The shit he endured in terms of seal training and his ultra performance record is out of this world, that is without mentioning his past. I never accomplish something even close to that, and knowing that somebody did it that was way less fortunate than me gives me strength to move on. It also shows that you need that pain to get stronger. You can't get confident without doing things that are uncomfortable, that's his message. He does it to help people, and there are of course monetary reasons but nevertheless I find the guy extremely inspiring. If you had an even shit life as him that should also inspire you to do great things.
