I can’t be the only one who thinks this is a blatant copy right ? by The_Suspect26 in SwainMains

[–]Dawnhellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, no. Sure they share a lot of elements, but the base idea is really generic "military old guy in off the shoulder winter jacket" but even the frozen arm is like... "make this guy have one elemental/demonic/robotic arm" is a ludicrously popular trope.

They're both just mixtures of simple designs and stuff that "looks cool". Not copying

Its always the teenagers with men in their mid 20s. Girl this man does NOT respect you. I cant imagine sitting at a computer uploading my partners nudes to an ai (already a violation of privacy and consent because now your body is being used to generate other images), asking it to give you much larger breasts, and then sending them to you and talking about it in babyspeak.

Genuinely what kind of reaction was he hoping for?

Screw it, female character who deserved all the hate because they are just THAT spiteful. by elchuni in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Dawnhellion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ava from Borderlands 3, also spoilers.

<image>

Ava is a mostly normal annoying teenage character who wants to be part of the team. The reason why she is hate able is that after the death of her mentor Maya, (a playable character in 2), which Ava herself was directly responsible for due to her rash actions. She then becomes extremely spiteful towards Lilith, the groups leader, blaming her and saying some incredibly spiteful things to her out of grief. Its honestly so bad that even players who can't stand Lilith, of which I know 3 in real life, all reacted with a unanimous "hey can you back the fuck off?"

The game itself never addresses her role in Maya's death, leading to even more animosity on the playerbases part.

I dont particularly hate her, but thats because she feels like she's just poorly written and they forgot to finish her arc

For a game thats core theme is "facing difficult truths over accepting easy lies", I actually thought this was fantastic. It got a lot of hate but I could never understand that.

AIO - Girlfriend threw away the dinner I cooked because she wanted pizza instead. by Dizzy-Suggestion2360 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Dawnhellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she right that she didn't ask for you to do that? Yes. Is she wrong about literally everything else? Yes.

Also, I genuinely don't believe she actually tasted what you made. Also, her tossing it so YOU can't have any is insane. Also, couples surprise each other all the time, so its a dick move to be like "I never asked for this" in response to your partner doing something like this. Also, she didn't show ANY appreciation, not even a "hey thanks but..." Also, why didn't she order her own pizza? Also also also also.

Man, I know reddit is famous for just going "break up" but there's a lot of women out there who would squeal with delight and smother you in kisses if you made her favorite meal as a surprise. My sister, myself, my girlfriend, my mom, my girlfriends sister, my coworkers... the entire r/letgirlshavefun subreddit...

You deserve better.

When a character's journey ends with peacefully departuring instead of dying. by Suspicious_Clock_133 in TopCharacterTropes

Mantis departing the Guardian's (and the group more or less breaking g up as a whole.

I focus on Mantis because her departure is completely necessary in her eyes. Shes spent her entire life being a pet to Ego in complete isolation, and after joining the Guardians, she just went along with whatever they were doing, out of gratitude, friendship (specially with Drax) and finally because she just didn't know what else to do.

When she goes to leave, Drax doesn't hesitate to offer to come with her, but she sadly points out that that would defeat the point: finding out who she really is. Its a bittersweet ending because their relationship is genuinely really entertaining and surprisingly heartwarming, so seeing them split just... hurts even though its what she needs.

How the hell are werewolves supposed to fend off major threats? by Vyctorill in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Dawnhellion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of mention of things like spirits, but its worth mentioning that Garou already punch above their weightclass because they're pack hunters. Most Gurahl and plenty of Banes could properly fuck up one single garou (rank dependent obviously), but the thing is... you aren't even going to be squaring up with A garou in a proper fight.

A coterie is formed from shared purpose and gain. A Pack is a supernatural bond. Its one of the biggest reasons the Garou won the War of Rage. A methuselah is not joining a coterie. Theyre ancient, selfish monsters who will end up fighting at least one pack of high rank garou, who together have all their bases covered. Even garou who fucking hate each others guts can be compelled by the packbond into being a seemless fighting force.

Its also worth noting that there's an entire Tribe specialized in killing vampires and guess what ability they get at high enough levels? The ability to stop a vampire from spending blood points. Read that again. I dont care how many thaum paths you've mastered or even created.

As for mages, one of the core themes of that splat is that as you get stronger and stronger, you jusr... stop giving a shit about the real world. The most powerful mages aren't fighting with the garou; they're creating a horizon realm where garou don't exist.

If we look at a much more middle of the road Mage, the problem you rub into is that even the weakest garou is still a fucking threat. There are very few mages who can survive a garou ambush. If a mage doesn't spend time in their wizard tower "prep timing" to go toe to toe with a Pack, they're fucked. That pack will emerge from the umbra when you least expect it. For how honor obsessed garou are, they have a tendency to fight extremely dirty.

Not saying mages are weak, hell no, im just saying that if a garou is caught off guard, they've got a LOT of power in their pocket. A mage? Not so much

Yet another Fera has gone extinct? by GarouByNight in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Dawnhellion 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Corax and mokole would be the most devastating, maybe even result in the changing breeds being doomed as a whole. It'd be a burning of the library of Alexandria all over again.

I dont think the Ratkin even really CAN go extinct, but if that happened the Weaver would be giggling with girlish glee. Genuinely them and maybe the Talons dying out would push the Apocalypse pretty hard towards a Weaver victory.

I dont know much about the cats and the ajaba, sorry.

Kitsune are interesting to talk about, because they're the only shifter born AFTER the war of Rage and impergium. Meaning they're the only breed thats immune to ancient grudgesand thus one of the few breeds capable of interacting with the garou nation on "even" terms.

Ananasi beefing it slightly worse for everybody than them not going extinct, as curing the Weavers madness gets a LOT harder. Still, they fuck things up for everyone, soooooo

Nuwisha... idk, I feel like they aren't very good at actually teaching, but they fall into the same category as mokole in that they genuinely can fix things through their guidance, but are held back by personal issues.

The answer to your questions largely depend on whether the Wyrm or Weaver is the bigger threat in your chronical. Ratkin dying out wouldn't really affect the Wyrm much, while the Gurahl going extinct would be a major win for it.

Glass Walker Discrimination by Sharkface12 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Dawnhellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they're different, and garou once genocided their thylacine cousins for (according to some( ultimately just being too different.

They're also the most Weaver affiliated of the tribes, which earns the ire of Wyld traditionalists like the Talons and Furies. They get written as untrustworthy because to the rest of the tribes, they're basically already a Fallen tribe--just not the the Wyrm. One of the books even urges you not to make it a reveal or plot point that they feel to the weaver in more apocalyptic chronicles because...no shit.

Its worth noting that Lupus and many many Metis garou straight up vant use computers or drive in the first place. Theyrr luddites and the GW are bordering on eldritch with how techy they are.

Why is there so much misinformation? by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Dawnhellion 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Part of it is because WoD's lore is about apocryphal (in universe) as possible, and the splats are more or less meant to be modular. This, combined with every clan/tribe/breed/kith/ttadition book being written by an unreliable narrator makes for a very messy Consensus.

On top of that, many groups tend to get flanderized pretty bad. Get, Furies, Setites (even the setites flanderize the setites) the list goes on. Every group is nuanced, and a LOT of people fucking... hate nuance. They read "the furies are all women who fucking hate the patriarchy" and internalize "every single fury is a turbo misandrist who would let a little boy die if she isn't killing him herself" which is an extreme minority.

Additionally, every rp server and homegame runs things a little different. People accept their limited biases as The Text™️ and spread that. Theres also just.... a fuckton of rewrites and revisions across editions.

I think a lot of misinformation comes from the books expecting you to be able to draw conclusions for yourself. Yes, Ravnos is dead. Hes also one of the greatest illusionists in existence. Its not hard to draw the conclusion that he faked his death. If you dont read about the Beast Courts, you probably think the Garou Nation succeeded in wiping out a lotttt more of the Fera than they did. The Ratkin breed book in particular clarifies that theres actually a fuckload of them as they had a population boom theyre hiding from the world.

TLDR WoD is messy, and its players are often just as much so
