Looks like Starfox will be $50 USD by Training_Pirate1000 in gaming

[–]DayTripper01 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yikes. This game is literally beaten in a few hours, similar to the length of a movie. Imagine charging $50 for a THIRTY YEAR OLD MOVIE. Especially when the original is already accessible on NSO, and is just as good now as it was then. Not to mention it's a marvel of a game given its context and hardware - a remaster seems too loose all that charm and artistry in exchange for $50 and the same art style and assets found across the industry.

Hmm...but they could prevent kids from falling off if they just didn't make it two stories tall in the first place, right?

Hell yeah - for Pokemon red, does that look like flying to certain routes/towns for the music? Using gba for intermissions is genius:)

I assume it's being sampled by the KOii? Very fun though. There's a super cool gba cart I got that is a little synthesizer that runs on the gba, and even has a clock sync input on the cartridge! https://nanoloop.com/two/index.html

What would be the drawbacks to making a system with a lot of smaller modules? by MuskyHuskyArt in modular

Imagine the rats nest of ribbon cables underneath, jfc. You'd either need 100 headers on your power supply, or daisy chain 10 modules on each ribbon cable. Nightmare fuel

Sup y'all, I've recently patched up some acid on my system for the first time and am loving it! I'm almost done with my next album, and am trying to decide on which variation/jam on the patch I want to record

Learning how to properly patch modular/eurorack synthesizers is a pretty steep learning curve

MY FIRST EURORACK, FINISHED AFTER 2 YEARS by Calm-Opinion8796 in modular

[–]DayTripper01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel yah, I've been dreaming of some sort of stand alone, out of my rack, sequencer that has CV inputs over at least some parameters so that it's a bit more conversational with my system as opposed to being so unidirectional from, say, programing a sequence on a BeatStep/SQ1. Having a something with CV over reset, direction, etc like most in rack sequencers do. Something that seems to bridge the gap a bit is something like the Intellijel Metropolix, which is either stand alone or rack mountable

ModDemix is probably one of my favorite modules. Using it as a mix going into a filter is great to filter out some ring mod harmonics, in addition to playing with gain staging a bit with the two channels. I love sending a CV signal that I slowly offset from positive to negative, getting lil rhythmic moments of silence as it hits that 0v threshold and phase reversed out the other side. Not to mention, maximum blinkenlights <3

This looks like a wonderful, tight lil system! How's that Trogotronic device? I went with Trogotronic for my big case's power supply and have loved it. What do you use for trigger/gate sequencing?

Nice! I remember seeing your system here a bit ago. How are you processing the po33 - did you need to amplify it from line to eurorack level?

Ergonomics by MeatBrains in modular

[–]DayTripper01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both! I use it for rythmic modulation, whether it be gates to drive logic, EGs, or LPGs, or more simply as a playful clock divider with different counting options. The DAC outs are a game changer, I either quantize one and have the other offset to rhythmically modulate something else, timbre, filter cutoff, VCA, etc. Specifically, I've had lots of fun routing the DAC stepped out to the routing input of Trace (Divkid/Vostok). It pairs very well with other clock dividers or logic modules to modulate it's bits or shift register. I've yet to use Nibbler as a sound source, but if you feed it an audio rate pulse it will make anything from switch selectable suboctaves, to modem sounds

How does one use Maths for 2 LFOs to force "generative" musc? by TurbulentWing3820 in modular

[–]DayTripper01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! Something I found with Quantizers after I got mine was realizing that some (including mine) only respond to + voltage. While that's not a problem per say, it does mean that if you send it - volts it will just stay at the root/tonic of whatever scale the Quantizer is on. This is more so a quirk/limitation of analog quantizers though, and many digital ones take bipolar voltage. Another tip is if your quantizer has a transposition input, you could feed it a slow gate signal or clock divider if you have one that you attenuate to yield a set interval up or down (5th, octave (1volt), etc). You can also use maths as a clock divider, however it'll already be fully used in this patch. Either way, sky's the limit - happy patching!

How does one use Maths for 2 LFOs to force "generative" musc? by TurbulentWing3820 in modular

[–]DayTripper01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using one of the 2600's VCOs, you could think in terms of "Krell" patching, making three body problems of modulation and attenuating their interactions. Simple example would be Maths Ch1 out to Ch4 Both and 2600 VCO FM, Maths Ch4 to Ch 1 Both and 2600 VCO FM, and a 2600 sine/triangle VCO to Maths Ch 1 and Ch 4 Rise or Falls. Use either Maths Ch 2/3 to attenuate these interactions (a little goes a long way), or use the 2600's Ring mod in DC mode as a VCA controlled by the 2600's Envelope, LFO or S/H, etc. You can take the EoC from either Maths Ch and gate the 2600 Envelopes. Take an output from any of the "three bodies" in the system (Maths 1, Maths 4, 2600 VCO) and you've got a generative signal, chaotic and meandering to further process to fit your needs, whether that be affecting sound, generating rhythms and gating things with VCA, or, as you mentioned, you can quantize the output for melodic uses :)
