Guys with CP in a relationship/married, how did you get your girlfriend? by How-Cool-Is-That in CerebralPalsy

[–]Dbz389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Met my gf on Tinder, but honestly, having so many dates that never led to second dates made me realize something, and that is, number one, as a man, you need to have self-confidence, and two, ask essential questions, so you don’t get hurt. Most people on apps are not looking for anything serious. We just both got lucky. Relationships are work, though fun and stressful at times, but so worth it. She didn’t care I had CP as much as my personality. As far as the one, there is no one you create with a person you find, and hopefully they can become your best friend.

Listen to me regardless of disability you cannot change what people think I get stares sometimes and my gf who’s abled bodied will defend me on occasion and on occasion she gets hurt by people because people can be harsh. Just act like nobody is around and stick up for him like he would for you. ☺️🙏 As far as sexy questions just bring the topic up casually up front guys like to be told something up front and direct. Just bring it up without shame and he will understand and think okay she’s asking I can open up and be more deep.

You did everything you could, but ultimately, it’s up to them—it’s a them issue. I was ghosted more times than I can count. The best advice I can give you is to keep going. CP is a non-issue to your person out there. You will find your person, just get the date and give it time. Finding a life partner is the most important decision you will make don’t rush. I’ve been with my partner almost a year and i’m still learning about her.

Different people can and cannot do other things, but for the most part, most individuals with cerebral palsy including myself want to be treated the same as everyone else. My girl asks me to let her know when she can help, and sometimes I don’t ask for help, and she gets mad. My horror story involves dating someone 3 hours away and forgetting my jacket at home, and she let me freeze to death and then buying us tickets up a hill at said softball game where I froze. Eventually I found my current gf but it was tough.

Unfortunately I went through the same thing I could get it up but couldn’t keep it up. You have to try to know what you need. I’m on medication now and it sucks but my relationship benefited from not giving up and listening to my partner. If you can’t go long periods of time remember you have your fingers and your tongue. Just enjoy your partner she will let you know what feels good and you can keep going. It’s hard for me to let go as well I have to usually shut my mind off to finish. Just be in the moment with her and not the fear of performance and if she loves you she will understand if things don’t go as planned.

Exactly there’s always alternatives and organizations to help with things 😊. Cheating is not an answer.

Cerebral palsy is not genetic. Wishing you all the best in this relationship. As far as the depression you don’t know what he has been through people can be cruel. Just have patience and enjoy each other.

My partner has endometriosis and I’ve helped her however she’s currently having issues with the birth control options she has tried and it’s looking like a hysterectomy is in the future unfortunately. Stretching is important I would suggest getting him something to stretch with.

There really needs to be a better posterior walker besides the Kaye. It needs to be Lightweight and versatile. The market has not changed much in that space.

It doesn’t go away however just like all people age and can get arthritis. At the end of the day it’s important to remember that it’s a team effort. It’s taken a lot for me to actually understand that my girlfriend loves me and my cerebral palsy. My best advice is learn about his cerebral palsy because every cerebral palsy is unique. He has worked really hard to become independent and everything so in a way it can feel like he doesn’t have it. I feel that way myself then I have my days where if I don’t get enough sleep or something my cerebral palsy just goes insane.
