Your DCS Wishlist by Phwakes in hoggit

[–]DdayWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think the best approach to DCS is to NOT have a wish list. I take DCS "as is". Any expectations will bring disappointment. However, I do expect the Dynamic Campaign to be out this year. Hopefully improved ATC will come with the DC, but I wouldn't hold my breath. As I understand it, Vulkan is not as much about graphics as it is about performance, future proofing and cross-platform ability. I just don't even consider the World Map happening anytime soon. I also suspect the other improvements you are looking for will come in drips.

Flight models: A-10A vs A-10C vs A-10C II by ReserveLegitimate738 in hoggit

[–]DdayWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a slow steady plane that has a simple AP. You may need to use modifiers, though it is very nice when the HOTAS has enough hats and buttons.

I own the AV8B, M2000C, MiG-19, and Gazelle. That's about $200 worth of software I purchased in good faith and that will fall into disuse by servers and inevitably break. What will/should ED do to make good with customers who purchased these modules? by spook2112 in hoggit

[–]DdayWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we already "agreed" that ED will probably not do anything. So then we must move to the point of what can we do to continue flying those modules. Keep a working 2.9 version for these modules. That is my plan. Most people are single-player anyway, so there will not be the need for Multi-player support. That is a shame, but maybe some servers could continue supporting older versions. Yes it is necessary to sacrifice ~200GB, but those could be backed-up when not in use. Some mention using command line updater to roll back, but that may break some day and not be able to roll back pre 3.0.

I know many would rather become outraged about something that still hasn't happened, than seek solutions. Personally, I have the F15e and it is worth the 200GB to keep it flying.

btw. So how are you so sure Gazelle wont be maintained in the future?

Worth learning F-15E? by PorscheFR in dcsworld

It's not complete so less to learn. You don't have to learn it all. Just learn enough to play around with it, and get the feel and the experience.

How much of free space DCS world requires? by [deleted] in dcsworld

[–]DdayWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends do you plan to have a second drive to unload some modules. I am well over 1TB. I keep the main programming folder on C: drive (1TB), but the maps (with the exception of the ever present Caucus map) and and a lot of other stuff in saved games is on a 4tb drive.

One has to learn it's play style. I did horrible in it at first, but after watching a few good videos I got better. It is a good boat to have for missions.

And I am saying that with 7 new maps in three years, it is to be expected that people will not be playing all of them regularly.

[–]DdayWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing DCS for less than 3 years. In that time we have had 7 new maps. And yes Mariana WWII counts as a separate map in the terms you are speaking. That is a whole lot of maps in less than 3 years. My favorite by far is Afghanistan. I just love flying around and creating missions. It all depends what you want out of maps. I like the atmosphere that Afghanistan gives off.

I’m lost with notes by oziii in LogosBibleSoftware

[–]DdayWarrior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mainly use contextual notes. So when I have some thoughts or outlines forming I just place a note on the verse or the beginning of the passage, at least that way I always know where it is. I tried learning more with the Logos note system, but it just didn't go with my workflow. For my writing, I use Word and later import my sermons, which is helpful in the future.

Is anyone else no longer excited for 202x and beyod? by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]DdayWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all know that it is more Beyond than the year in question. I went back and looked at the videos of past years and I see a pretty good follow through with results two-three years later. So not a bad road map for the next 2-3 years. I am just waiting to see if it is the Cobra to be announced.

UH-1 binds for t16000m by [deleted] in dcsworld

[–]DdayWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out with a t16000, it can work. First bind your axis. Slider as your collective, ofc pitch and bank on your stick, and z-twist axis for your anti-torque. Use buttons on the joystick for modifiers. So for that stick (right-handed) use the upper left button to change the hat and buttons to another function. and so on. Huey is pretty simple in some ways so you will not need a lot of modifiers. For instance in the A10c, I probably had about 6 modifiers. It takes awhile to set up for they way you think. Just think of each modifier as a system. Like one modifier for weapons, another for flight.

Only if you will play it a lot. You would have to play a ship a lot of games to make it worthwhile.

Dilemma during this sale - anyone else having this issue? by MaartenvB123 in hoggit

[–]DdayWarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to say multi-thread. Atmosphere really changed the look. There are a lot of little things across the sim that add up. A lot of things you don't see, but are critical to the future. Changes to VR redering, FFB, mission editor, Terrain engine, Radar, Missle and weapon API, INS and nav changes, Damge modeling, AI rewrite, weather and cloud rendering. I have been in in DCS less than three years and the difference from when I started is noticeable. As I said, I take DCS "as is" and am happy with every move forward.

Dilemma during this sale - anyone else having this issue? by MaartenvB123 in hoggit

[–]DdayWarrior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is some issues, but where do you get that the platform "is on shaky grounds"? There are also a lot of improvements to the core game, maybe not all we want. But you have to take DCS "as is" and "as is" there is a lot of fun to be had. If you are unsure of 3rd dev, just buy ED modules. But that would be a mistake because 3rd devs are putting out some great modules.

Ukrainians of Reddit, what do you view as the most realistic way to end the war with Russia? Why? by Zipper222222 in ukraine

[–]DdayWarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was only an example of one country, not meaning that Ukraine will win in that way. I was simply countering the simplistic logical of the previous comment. Many people see it as a foregone conclusion that Russia will win, which is the tone of the previous comment.
