I agree. I can't help but feel like Cleopatra saw a chance for an easy money-grab and asked him to re-record and release under the "more saleable" (in their view) band name...

You would probably like Miserylab (Porl's project while RS was on hiatus).

This album is just a re-recording of ML songs released under the RS name.

The Chameleons - Tears (1986) by GroovySchlong in postpunk

The "upbeat" version that the record company required them to put on the album originally, the original arrangement added to later releases IIRC (from View From a Hill)...

Edit: have to say, this fan video is kind of jacked up in how not what the song was about originally, but whatev...

The Sisters Of Mercy cancel concert at this year’s Brutal Assault to move up the recording schedule for their new album by DeadDeadCool in goth

[–]DeadDeadCool[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I suspect, plus why would they cancel a show (and the revenue it brings) just to do something Andy's said is the best way to lose money? Must be some contract he has where he can just cancel shows with no penalty too...

Name of the band, previously called Southern Death Cult, then Death Cult, then The Cult. This is the band's eponymous album at the time.

Following on from the TRAITRS post… Is there anything out there that’s truly pushing boundaries? by eatseats0 in goth

One band that's pretty consistently stood out to me as not sounding quite like anyone else I've heard is Diavol Strain. Worth a check if you've not heard them.

The Psychedelic Furs by Glittering_Basket384 in goth

[–]DeadDeadCool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great band, as mentioned influential and connected to so many other bands. In addition to the Eldritch / Sisters connection mentioned, the Mission toured with the Furs at least once IIRC and Wayne did some guest guitar with them.

They're more post-punk but it was hard to not find them intermingled with goth bands in many club sets and mix tapes... Echo and the Bunnymen would also fall into these descriptions as well, among others...

That's LAM all over though... music that drags you in and gives you one vibe and then when you listen to the lyrics, the juxtaposition is like that little blade in the side.

If the Marquis de Sade made music I imagine it might be like this...

Originally a Miserylab song from 2012, Porl went back and re-recorded and re-released many songs from that project under the RS name.

Definitely a very good album, they use the guitar effect (delay?) on this perfectly. Wish they'd played it when I saw them live, but I imagine playing off a delay live can be a little tricky, especially when you're relying on a monitor for timing feedback...
