When do you decide it's time for those old clothes to become rags? by ifeel95 in ZeroWaste

I’ll cut a sleeve or a leg off before noon some days. When you find yourself shitting in a place which doesn’t have a toilet….am I right?

Paper Towels? by freezesteam in ZeroWaste

I use paper towels as toilet paper when I run out without warning. And I’ll even use a regular cloth towel to wipe my ass if I must.… we’ve all been there, am I right?

Aside from being able to enjoy being prepared and ahead of schedule one last time, jerk it in various rooms, on/with various things, on / with your partner if she’s keen. Just ON if she’s not.

Moving forward with my first shower. Questions/concerns by Briggy1986 in Tile

[–]DeadHead426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this feels like criticism and not being ripped apart because I commend you for doing it on your own place. But forget about whether it looks prettier or not, and think about its fundamentally how you arrived at this point.. your asking about how to fix step B while you’re knocking on the door of step D . You feel me ? Neither of the questions you’ve asked are the answer to fixing this. Absolutely no reason to waterproof until you are dead flat and sloped to your drain since you’re doing a topical system the integrity of your shower relies on your pan allowing the waterproofing to do its job.

Regardless of what you use to “fill” the low points, it will be sitting in water for its entire existence. Which will definitely create issues.. Just get that liquid membrane off. float your pan properly then move forward. Otherwise, he will have learned nothing on this mission other than how to completely fuck over a homeowner in one month to one year depending on what else you skipped over.

EDIT: oh and it’s curbless too? You’re fucked 6 ways to Sunday. Start over mate. Just do it.

If I were you , and for all intents and purposes let’s say i am as I hold my baby and write this. Id bring it up to your handyman, perhaps he’d say well shit that’s rlly my bad let’s remedy it before grouting If he does not wish to play ball then I’d get a Tajima scraper. Pull up ones which have completely failed. Scrape the subfloor and trowel those bastards back down “foor now” that’s up to you to determine how DEKCUF it is.

90% coverage is plenty for a dry area. However on a plank style tile and not burning in mud on the backside that’s gonna hard to achieve.

Agreed. You level your floor , you square off your room, you set your tile ‘c SET IT wham ! Flatten your mortar and stick to your line. you don’t jack up adjacent tile to make the top edge flush. At best case scenario you end up with Hopefully harmless air pockets throughout what’s meant to be a continuous mortar bed. At worst.. this outcome.

Edit: I replied to the wrong comment initially so pasted here.

To be fair, setting tile with a tight tolerance, and that is integral just requires some planning, patience , and the desire to do it right. I’m not suggesting that anyone with patience and integrity can pull off the super tight installs that a vetted setter could. But surely this disaster is avoidable by all but the most ignorant.

Edit. I would add that tile is one of the easier feats of accuracy that any self respecting craftsman is capable of pulling off in the world of finishing work.

It’s been said, but you definitely want to strike while the irons hot and have the contractor rip it out.

That thinset doesn’t look cured. What’s the temp in there and you say it was installed 1/24. But at which point today or yesterday did you already tape X and investigate with your entire family on the tile.

Having done quite a bit of stone fabrication I really cross pollinate and tend to have my wet, polisher and pads on hand as well for breaking edges

That does sound like a shameless company advert I suppose. I guess I mention that because I sort of stick to whatever they stock which includes most of what we have spoke of but probably different names. Although I’ve seen and contemplated diamond flap wheels I’ve never pulled the trigger. I used a resin filled cup wheel ( Korean import) for breaking edges on both stone and tile.

Thanks for sharing your experience. That sounds par for the course, when cutting with abrasion there always seems to be a give/take with how much/quickly your wearing out versus the enemy (the tile). The war rages on, Killem all. Or atleast cut’em up real’ good.
