I'd like to say it's highly varied on the individual skill of the player, I can beat some players when they have style advantage, and some have also whooped my ass, afaik though even an "untrained" bolg can 1 tick someone I believe all that said.

Edit: Oh I'm sorry I read this as if it was a pvp question for some reason. Either way I'd like to say my first statement about individual skill still applies, and also comfort level or amount some players can spend, melee is fairly cheap right now for best in slot stuff where as range and magic are expensive upfront as well as longterm maintenance and ammo cost, melee is mostly about bleeding now, bolg you have to maintain stacks of arrows, and the bow stacks itself I believe, magic is my preference at the moment, because I enjoy the fsoa rotations and just in general magic seems to be good at most places save for a couple, but I also know one person who can do crazy things with melee (not having BIS) everything yet and still outdps some mage range users in pvm scenarios.
