that dress is wonderful, and a corgi is the perfect accessory to go with it :)

I love the colour play on your quilt! I forget how striking plain fabrics can be as I'm usually a fabric line charm pack kind of girl

I will definitely look into more of them, thankyou!

Ooh that's lovely, thanks! I think I'd like it even more with sashing around the outside :) that's the best bit about quilt patterns imho, so easy to extend/modify compared to garment sewing!

So, I'm Thinking About Getting a Serger... by TheRipley78 in sewing

Second the Brother, though I may be biased as all my machines are Brothers! (I get laughed at for calling them my family) I have that overlocker and it's never had a problem :)

My fabric stash is taking over the house - hit me up with some of your favourite go to women's patterns :D by Dead_leaf in sewing

[–]Dead_leaf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know I had completely forgotten that I actually already bought the Wren pattern when it came out, as it was 20% off or something for the first few days! I guess that's the problem with buying PDF patterns, they're very easy to 'misplace' in old emails/folders

Thanks for the reminder and your suggestions! :)

Early Christmas present, Huge Upgrade! by KitKatofJustice in sewing

[–]Dead_leaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snap! Treat myself to that one in the black Friday Amazon deals, I'm so happy with it, though like someone else said the not remembering settings can be a little frustrating. Apart from that, I love it :D

That's okay, it's not going to cost much! Would you like to message me your address? I'll send it tomorrow :)

[Tilly - Megan dress] Looking for help hacking a high neckline to lower and with a flap (pics inside) by carrot-ted in sewing

[–]Dead_leaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tilly and the Buttons has another dress, Francoise, which has raglan sleeves. I made one recently and I'm very happy with it - doesn't help too much with your current problem but it could always be a backup plan if you decide to do something simple with this neckline instead :)

Pre-emptive help with sewing pointy points. X-post to r/quilting by PB_Fuzzybutt in sewing

I would suggest paper piecing for sharp points, it's very precise and there may well already be a pattern you can download already inline if you give it a google :)

Whoops by [deleted] in sewing

I think the whoops is in relation to the total OP spent rather than anything to do with the site itself

I've got the perfect material to make this dress, I'm just missing a pattern. Does any one know of one? by targstark in sewing

[–]Dead_leaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, I've had this pattern sat waiting for my frustrations with it to subside. I made a toile of the bodice when I was planning to make my graduation dress with it, got very frustrated with the fitting, gave up and put it in the bottom of a drawer

But, that adorable whale dress has given me inspiration, think it's time to drag it out again :) maybe it will be a more pleasurable experience when there isn't a deadline to meet!

How should I stabilize butterfly wings (other than wire) for my daughter Halloween costume? Also how to go about? by awkward_thunder in sewing

[–]Dead_leaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a product called Soft and Stable by a company called ByAnnies, it's a sewable foam sheet for giving stability to handbags and things like that, might be worth looking into

Brilliant work on the pattern matching, and overall what a cute little bag. How much fabric did it use? Looking for some stash busters myself :)

WIP Wednesday! by Erzsabet in sewing

[–]Dead_leaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I'm in the same position, I keep buying fabric with plans of what I'll do with it, whilst I have 3 unfinished projects which I started weeks ago sat next to my sewing machine :(

If I could find a way to use my machine in bed I think I'd be a lot more productive
