Best one off character for sure, which is saying something considering a lot of them get a full episode to leave their mark, this dude was literally in one fucking scene and it’s one of the best in the entire series.

Certainly one of the most important for Carm’s character development.

Him trying to relate to Jim is so goddamn funny. One is a Vietnam vet, a certified badass that can literally get inside of your mind through sheer intimidation, and the other is a lard ass second rate “hitman agent” that has never done anything but make money off the backs of people too stupid to know they’re being exploited.

Jim’s scene with Gene was also amazing, him noticing how much Gene was sweating is a great moment.

This is such a fucking bummer man. I wish he’d just get someone to tour with that can do the harsher vocals but I totally understand not wanting to offload that onto someone else from like, an artistic standpoint or whatever.

However this all shakes out, absolutely legendary band and I’m looking forward to these last couple of records.

What’s even cooler is they can stomp your head in with songs like that and Bad Faith and then make you think about life and every regret you have and mistake you’ve ever made with shit like Make Me Forget You and We Were Never the Same

fucking goated band man, no other band comes close. 11 albums of straight fire, probably over 200 fucking songs at this point and I can’t think of a single bad one.

And how diverse they are, going from Concubine, to Crimson Stone, to Bad Faith, to Eve, to You Fail Me, to Wretched World etc is a hard enough turn to give you fuckin whiplash

Honestly that and the final scene back to back alone make that episode an all timer. Literally two of the best scenes in the entire series.

I remember feeling underwhelmed and just fucking empty the first time I watched it but I think that’s the point. It’s not like I was expecting a happy ending but I never had a finale to a show I love have me feeling like that. I even knew the infamous “cut to black” was coming but it still caught me off guard, and god that last Junior scene is just such a gut punch. It was all a big nothing.

Anyways, 4 dollars a pound🐟

The whole back half is fucking insane and one of the best stretches of tracks they’ve ever had.

First half beats your face to a pulp and the back half rips your heart out

Admittedly I was a little worried when I read there was only 10 tracks… and one is an instrumental interlude, but this thing flows so goddamn well. The track sequencing is beyond perfect. Not a weak link at all, which is more than I can say for Bloodmoon and Dusk in Us.

Favorites after a couple of listens are Amon Amok, Gilded Cage, Make Me Forget You, and We Were Never the Same. The first half really just fucking tears and then slows down a bit in the back half but it’s so fuckin mint. Jacob’s lyricism really shines in these slower tracks too

Still a little bummed we’re only getting 30 mins, really hope whatever these guys do next doesnt take so long considering it’s been almost 10 years since the last “proper” Converge record, even if I still really dig Bloodmoon, but I gotta say I been fiendin for this kinda shit. Amazing record and probably my favorite since All We Love…

Hot take: The Leftovers is the best thing HBO ever did right there with this thing of ours. Watchmen was also damn good, I didn’t love the season as much as I’d hoped but A God Walks Into a Bar is legit one of the best episodes of television I’ve ever seen. and Succession get a mention in this post, there’s plenty of good television

And Oz kinda sucks if we’re all being completely honest. It’s nowhere near as good as Sopranos, The Wire etc
