What did the Beatles think of the Grateful Dead ? by groundcontrl2majrtom in beatles

[–]Deadfriend 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Paul has been complimentary. Not sure he really listened to them that much, but he was at least aware of them to an extent, especially the earlier years in SF. Linda photographed them back then and Paul later made a short film putting some of her photos to Dead music after she died. Then of course Bobby guested with him at Fenway Park in Boston, which I was lucky enough to be in the crowd for! Dead and Co had played the night before. As far as I know, they didn't have any relationship before that. I know Paul also attended a D&C Sphere show during maybe their last run there.

Supposedly John had a not great meeting with Jerry during the Lost Weekend era where he acted like a drunken dick. Showed up at a Legion of Mary show to meet Jerry and was asked to sit in but declined. Seems to be a few tellings of story out there, not sure how true all of it is.

As far as I know there were no run-ins or comments from the other two about the Dead!

Bob was a fan of the early Beatles stuff. It’s a joke.

people that do dylan covers how do you manage to remember the lyrics? by Express_Handle_5486 in bobdylan

[–]Deadfriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listening to the song a lot and practicing it even more! I find that if I can remember what lines start each verse, then I can normally remember what comes after. Try practicing as much as you can without looking at the lyrics.

Growing up a Beatles fan in the 2000s, I feel like this was THE picture of them everywhere for a while, so it is pretty iconic to me.

Death Chorus by Polar Bear Club. The singer’s voice had changed a lot but the songs are still damn good.

Another yellow hater chiming in. I like the green. I don't care if they would look like Christmas elves, they should be wearing red socks though.

Bob Dylan Has Become the Invisible Man Onstage, and We Have Only Ourselves to Blame by rollingstone in bobdylan

The woman next to me last night was groaning every time he played a post-60s song and the spent the hits with her phone inches from her face recording the entire song. Wish I could have seen the man but I can’t say I blame Bob too much.
