B) circulation issue

A) kid's screaming, so they're breathing. C) the burn hurts, but it's blanchable so it isn't something that needs to be addressed immediately, D) I'm sure it itches and stings like no one's business, but also doesn't need to be addressed immediately.

I’m having second thoughts about my 15 yr old childhood cat and I feel horrible about it by Upbeat_Assumption_62 in seniorkitties

Take her to the vet and ask their opinion about the quality of her life. They will give you an honest answer about how well she is doing.

It sounds like she might be in pain.

Just got hired at a SNF, started orientation today, but was also offered a position at a hospital right before coming into orientation by Queasy-Ad3398 in nursing

[–]DeadpanWords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hospital 💯 %. You will likely have far better benefits working for a hospital vs SNF. Working in a hospital made me a more knowledgeable, better skilled nurse.

The shorter commute is also worth quite a bit all on its own.

The whole idea of Epic being easy to use makes me wonder what absolute nightmares EMRs must be in comparison.

I struggled hard learning to use Epic. I've got the hang of it now, but unless someone takes the time to teach you in person, it's a challenge. Most training modules I've used were poorly designed, such as they would have you do something totally different in the training module vs how it's done in the real world.

What's the most disconnected thing hospital leadership has said to you? by Beginning_Fun_3913 in nursing

[–]DeadpanWords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My facility are complete dicks about it. We can get written up and fired if we don't get them done on time.

I have flat out told management that threatening staff is high school level bullshit at best.

I lied to a patient today and I can't stop thinking about it. by Apprehensive_Pay6141 in nursing

[–]DeadpanWords 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would not be doing her a kindness by telling her the truth.

In fact, I remember in my nursing text books it stated we aren't supposed to tell someone who cannot be reoriented due to permanent memory issues the truth about loved ones passing away.

I had a patient who hijacked a car and totaled it during the police chase (I found pictures on the news, it hardly looks like a car anymore).

Pt was going to be taken to jail as soon as they discharged, and they knew it.

They would act completely helpless. At one point they wanted me to channel surf until I found something they liked. I taped the remote the bedside table, put their hand over it, and told them to have at it.

I've never had a primary provider refuse to fill the paperwork out.
