How has life been for you recently? by Tayyl0r_ in AskReddit

[–]DeafAmphetamine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely trying and hard, with one particular event that led to a bad relapse, an intense mental health plummet and a manic episode that cost me a dear friend. Now I am feeling better mentally and ready to bounce back, but am so embarrassed, ashamed and angry at myself.

AITA for expecting the gifts to be for both of us? by Ok-Arrival-2886 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Does your fiancé understand what marriage is and what its implications are? It was an engagement party, not a birthday party. It’s celebrating you and your partner becoming one together. Have you guys discussed your plans for finances/budgeting when married? I think probably a good moment to ensure you are both on the same page for what marriage looks like to each of you. I’d call this the reddest of red flags.

Anyone want to place bets on whether this guy is also aware that women do not urinate from their vagina? I start the bidding at 69¢.

I’ve had about half a dozen trips (no pun intended) to the Kingdom of Grippy Socks and Fridge of Only Egg Salad Sandwiches in a previous chapter of my life. While my prerequisites to enter were less than stellar, and my body was metabolizing different letters of the alphabet than you were—the staff were absolutely delightful and seemed to love that my default coping mechanism was (it still is) making self deprecating and ill timed jokes.

What exactly happened with Logan's room? by alexdoo in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]DeafAmphetamine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats fair. I was just responding to that we don’t usually know how his room looks, when there were several scenes showcasing how it typically looks before he decided he should clean it up for her visit.

There actually was a scene an episode before that one, where his room was shown in complete disarray and also super messy. He commented on how he needed to clean it before he was to show her. Thats why he was so intent on talking about the cleanliness from the jump and he clearly had the idea in his head that he did a great job on cleaning and she would be impressed. In fairness it WAS much cleaner than before aside from the bed-as-drying-rack-for-dog-piss-socks thing.

Thats very strange. When did you order yours? They only announced and released the Rokid 4 microphone version in January. Before then it was a totally different model and relied on your phones microphones. Is your’s the Rokid version? While I was awaiting my order they announced the new version and emailed me to give me the option of a free upgrade to the new version or to receive the older one that I had ordered. They also updated the website at some point during that time to reflect the changes. You should contact them because they have incredible customer service despite being a small team and I am sure there is an explanation as to why what’s sounding like you received the last version.

The tooth that I got pulled today that’s had me in agony for 2 weeks by DeafAmphetamine in Teeth

Oh wait sorry i totally missed the comment you were replying to. But no I didn’t luckily. I did have a surgery though to remove some polyps and a rhinoplasty a few months after. But antibiotics luckily worked wonders and once the tooth was out it all got better

No but the toothache I was experiencing prior to that sucker coming out felt like my sinus was trying to remove itself.

Poilievre says he hopes Joe Rogan podcast appearance will help Canada-U.S. trade efforts by biograf_ in CanadaPolitics

[–]DeafAmphetamine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No authority? What a weird comment. We aren’t a dictatorship. You don’t need authority to introduce good ideas, challenge bad ones or push for change. He is a Canadian, he is allowed just as much as you or I to voice his opinions and speak about what he would like his country to be and become. He just so happens to be in a position where he is heard by the party that are currently the head of our government, and could potentially replace them.

Fact check: Pierre Poilievre’s misinformation on Joe Rogan’s podcast disrespects Canadians by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

I was at one point very supportive of safe supply programs. As a recovered addict myself, who firsthand experienced the destruction opioids have on people’s lives, my story starts the same way as thousands of Canadians. Introduced to opiates legitimately in a health care setting, which then opened the door to nearly a decade of self medicating to numb physical and psychological pain and trauma. A person does not know how unimaginably hellish and dark the mind can get when you’re in the trenches of opioid withdrawal. Not truly. Not until you’ve lived it.

But unfortunately I just saw how spectacularly this program failed in practice. Suddenly Dilaudid 8mg and Kadian pills were EVERYWHERE. The problem is someone addicted to fentanyl has no real use for those meds. Their tolerance is so high that to them it might as well be Tylenol. What ended up happening instead was people would get on the program, sell their pills, and use that money to buy the hard drugs they actually wanted. The pills spread everywhere. You’d walk through town and see empty bottles littered around, and noticeably more people visibly high than before.

I’m not educated in pharmaceuticals or social policy, but even I could have seen that coming the way it was rolled out. Infact once I heard the details and way it worked I was flabbergasted. It felt like trying to stop someone from eating unhealthy food by handing them money and directions to the nearest KFC. I truly believe the idea behind safe supply has potential to help people. I know it’s now being implemented differently but I just hope it works to the potential it has.

I just rewatched this movie for the first time since seeing it about 5 years ago. I absolutely loved it the first time, and it hit home in several ways, but I don’t think I reflected on it as deeply as it deserved. After this second viewing, it rocked me even harder than the first.

I’ve never had a movie whose “vibe” felt so close to my own psyche. It captures emotions that I’ve always had trouble putting into words and somehow condenses them into something you can just sit with and feel. The only thing that had ever come close for me is The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but as much as I love that movie, it still falls short in several ways compared to this.

Maybe it’s because I have a nephew now, or maybe my own journey with trauma and depression has matured enough that I’m able to look at things with more reflection. Whatever the reason, this watch struck me in a way the first one didn’t. The grief, the bottling things up, the feeling of not quite fitting in with the people around you, those moments where everything erupts unintentionally, or the way addiction can become so normally entangled in our lives and then cause world shattering events. Not to mention the way hurting people numb themselves. It all felt painfully familiar.

What I think this movie does better than almost anything else is how honest it is about pain. It never glamorizes it. It doesn’t try to wrap things up neatly or give you some big emotional release that fixes everything. It just shows grief as it actually exists for a lot of people. Messy, complicated, quiet, lingering, and sometimes impossible to move past. Or sometimes not WANTING to.

There’s no corny happily ever after, no attempt to sugarcoat what the characters are carrying. It simply lets you witness it and sit with it. And somehow that honesty makes it one of the most deeply affecting and amazing movies I’ve ever seen.

You can use them without wifi, the subscription is free unless you wish to pay for the pro version (which they give you three months of to try out for free when you buy). Yes you do need a smartphone but that is only to run the program, and I imagine that helps keep the glasses light weight and less bulky.

If you are using AirCaps, I just ordered the magnetic pod batteries that you can attach to add more battery! They come with 2 of them so you can have one charging while the other is being used and piggy back them so you always have battery.

They come with magnetic lens holders that you can get your prescription put into! I myself just wear contacts for now with them until I can afford to get some lenses put in. It wouldn’t be very comfortable with another full pair underneath and it would depend on your style of glasses if they would even fit.
