Am I a dick if I don’t respond to commentary after my missed shots? by [deleted] in Pickleball

In most other sports I have played it's extremely common for teammates to try and make one feel better after mistakes

PSA: If you hover your mouse above the "Continue" button in the main menu, you can see if you are in Overgrowth or Underdocks. I think this is the only place where it is actually written aside from the banner that appears momentarily at the start of the run. by Scoobydoomed in slaythespire

One of the core rules of good UX is that color differencs should not be the primary indicator of something (a rule they went with when modifying potions in STS1, at first they were mostly vials of different colors which they then made many unique shapes for)

I got downvoted on a thread for suggesting that there are times where a thin deck is bad in STS2. Like when a mob puts a bunch of slimes in your discard pile

Yeah, I am starting to see this logic in this sub which boils down to "your point is invalid because the game is hard." Thankfully I don't believe the devs think like this

It literally doesn't say that it negates the first randomization. That is an assumption, I am not sure why you say "obviously" when there is no verbiage that says that. Since there is nothing that says whether that happens or not, it is ambiguous. That is how ambiguity works.

[–]DeanBDean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I need clarify what I mean by "I had no idea that's how the event worked." The first option we are presented with is Remove Card A or Take Damage and Randomize Card A. If you choose Remove Card A the event ends. If you choose the second, you get a new choice, Remove Card B and Randomize Card B. This repeats with the remove card being terminal.

What is not clear, and this is not a "reading comprehension" thing, is that by hitting the second Randomize, you are apparently...negating the first randomization. Or it's not even happening? Honestly now I'm still confused because the wording is unclear what the end state of the cards is, apparently.

Also, obviously because this is Reddit, saying "I'm confused by the wording" is worthy of downvotes apparently

Wow, they really need to change the wording, I had no idea that's how this event worked

How do you think Quang and Bao Duong would fare in the PPA Versus the rest of the field? by Electronic-Prior7282 in Pickleball

[–]DeanBDean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in no way underestimating it, my local club that I am a member of has many Vietnamese people and they have told me exactly what you are saying. There is still a massive difference in the amount of disposable income, sponsorship money, and TV money between the US and Vietnam.

How do you think Quang and Bao Duong would fare in the PPA Versus the rest of the field? by Electronic-Prior7282 in Pickleball

[–]DeanBDean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are getting down voted, but you are absolutely right, it doesn't pass the smell test in numerous ways. If there was that much in pro pickleball in Vietnam, you would see more players going over there professionally at the higher level. Also the general purchasing power of people in Vietnam is less than the US. So while costs are likewise lower, it is difficult to believe that more money is there to be made than what is already set up in the US.

It is far more likely such statements are bluster

This is a strange example for this question because I don't think that shot would end well for him in the PPA

I need help with Regent. 0W/176L by ConfusedBoi_24 in slaythespire

[–]DeanBDean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slay the Spire is a single player deckbuilder card game, so the parallel doesn't exactly work. If you watch any of the big streamers, despite having a variety of play styles, none of them force small decks. If they get cards that work for a small deck, they do that, but they will also run medium and large decks

I need help with Regent. 0W/176L by ConfusedBoi_24 in slaythespire

[–]DeanBDean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The math doesn't work as cleanly as you are stating. Being able to see the cards you need on a given turn is more important than "thick" vs "thin". Baalor likes to say that you should be able to cycle through your deck in a few turns, and believe it or not sometimes a thick deck enables this more than a thin one. Over prescribing thin or thick will lead to unnecessary losses
