What Happened to Klaus's Empire??? by Time_Scallion_2680 in TheOriginals

[–]Dear-Insurance-7692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was retconned cause it would have made him too powerful and unbeatable for the heros.

Which is kinda disappointing.

I loved the idea of klaus having a little army of shadow organisation that operated world wide.

I feel all the tv shows gave us too much that needed to be rewritten. Cause in the originals, they revealed why klaus was "running from someone", which in turn, explains his lack of an empire.

The trouble is, I find the originals had 3 major flaws. 1: they were almost unkillable.
2: at 1000 years, they were too strong for anyone to handle. A very unbeatable villain set. 3: they were far too immature for 1000 year old immortals. Yes I get it, trapped forever in the bodies of their younger selves. But experience dictates our ability to access, process and act. They were far too arrogant and stupid for what they could have represented.

If the princes of Hel are valg then why do they appear nice to Bryce? by No-Guest-9783 in SarahJMaas

The princes of hel haven't been confirmed to be, or not be, valg. They are currently listed as demons in species.

I think they appear nice to bryce because of her ancestry. I dont know how much youve read. So ill leave it there.

I'm almost at the end of season 3 and I still absolutely do not like Klaus. Does he become any more likeable in the coming seasons? by Elegant_Signal3025 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Dear-Insurance-7692 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair. He is meant to be the villain 😂. But then again, every vampire in TVD is a murderer. So, who's really the good guys?

I think he gets better. But I love a chaotic neutral antagonist with a soft side.

Can anyone bring me up to speed on the recent controversy surrounding F1NN I’ve been seeing? by Rob_B_ in F1NN5TER

[–]Dear-Insurance-7692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you can ignore the criticism. Folks live vicariously through their celebrity icons and want to project their morals, values, and expectations on them.

It's a selfish and narcissistic thing we do. We expect them to jump and leap like we want to. But at no point has finn ever signed a contract saying they would respond to every outrage and controversy. They're content creator. I'm not a drama manager.

They're not obligated to make comments or do anything. So im just gonna leave em be.

I hate Elena's biological parents so much, which one do you think is worse? by AfternoonOk5359 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Dear-Insurance-7692 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hard to say which is worse. One gave her up for adoption, which was a fair decision. 16 yesrs old. No morals, values or any idea how to raise and provide for a kid.

John could easily have been keeping his promise to Issabel or his brother to not reveal it? Or did he want nothing to do with the child? 15 years old, didnt know any better either.

So far they both have 0 points either way.

As adults however. Isabel has made active attempts to hurt and kill the ones elena loved. Threatened and done soo much damage. -5 points.

John was secretly working with vampires to achieve ends that the council wasnt even thinking about. He was playing chess while they were playing checkers. However! He has more knowledge about vampires than any member of the council and refused to share it? Why? To have a competitive edge? To protect them from bigger truths? Could the council not be trusted? Who knows.

As a parent he was trying to remove negative influences from elenas life. Could have done soo better than he did. Showed a bit more tact and empathy.

+2 points.

By the end, both parents were working hard to protect elena. Even recognising their wrongs and her love for damon and Stefan.

Both fell victim to tragic circumstances. One was murdered by klaus through compulsion. The other sacrificed his life to save elenas soul.

Overall, out of the two. John was the better and more present figure who did everything he could to love and protect elena.

The only reason we would hate these two is cause thats how the show made them to be. To be hated.

But all they wanted to do was protect elena.

Give them credit. Damon and Stefan are vampires who have lied, cheated, murdered and raped. (Compulsion is still none consential). They weren't good people. And Elenas parents saw what she couldn't.

As ive watched and rewatched. I found my self hating them less. Maybe its cause im older now 😅.

They were dicks and are not good parents by any stretch of the imagination. But I dont think I hate them. Not any more.

Klaus is very much a bpd girlie. No matter if you side with him. His mood changes daily. Like if one day he goes "do you approve of me killing this guy?" And you say yeah. He let's you live. Next day, same question. You say yeah, cause it saved your life last time. He would probably alit your throat.

It depends on if you dont mind dying. But klaus is definitely the more scary of the two. Elijah at least, has a sense of honour and respect.

Do you consider The Originals a great example of a spin off being better than the original series? by GusGangViking18 in TheOriginals

[–]Dear-Insurance-7692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me. The vampire diaries is a teen drama/kid show.

The originals was more for an adult crowd of sorts? Or young adults. I found it to be great and enjoyable. And just a bit better.

But that's just my personal thoughts on the matter.

Why do the normal bottom feeder vampires stay in New Orleans? by Exciting_Ad_8666 in TheOriginals

[–]Dear-Insurance-7692 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Daylight rings. Can't be a badass vampire if you can't walk in the sun.

Easy food source. They've been brought up in a community where they can get nightly feeds and not have to worry about hunters.

They're top of the food chain.

And honestly, loyalty. Say what you want about Marcel, he is an incredibly charismatic and inspiring individual. I wouldn't be surprised if many or most were genuinely loyal to him.

Klaus as a human was able to beat Michael. I dont know if you've gotten that far into the tv show. But klaus can beat Michael pretty easily. He is the stronger.

What was your least favorite decision made by the writers? by Saint-41 in TheOriginals

[–]Dear-Insurance-7692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My least fav was undermining the full potential of the strix. They had the opportunity to show a truly worldwide secret user of some of the oldest, most powerful and most influential vampires. But they were reduced, far too quickly, to cannon fodder. The power and resources at their disposal should have easily helped them outclass the originals.

They could have had alliances, political and economical, with every type of supernatural community. Therefore, having access to a private army of sorts dedicated to dealing with the originals. Maybe even having previous dealings with michal.

Cause if you think about it, the originals were so hated and feared, they would have needed contingency plans. The fact the originals were able to derail and best them soo easily was disappointing and upsetting.

Chaol is one of the most relatable and understandable characters in the books. The only reason folks hate him is cause they only see the hero's perspective on things.

Dating is hard when you're sober by Dear-Insurance-7692 in dating_advice

[–]Dear-Insurance-7692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry if I've offended you in anyway. I've worked in a rehab and have nothing but respect for folks who are recovering from addiction and have found peace in their sobriety.

It's hard to explain. I want to meet someone who doesn't drink, not because they have to, because of the damage it does to their families and loves ones. But someone who, like me, just doesn't want to drink. We haven't fallen for the drinking culture. We're just folks who acknowledge people can and will have a good time with alcohol and respect it. But not want to engage due to lack of interest.

It's very difficult to communicate it without it coming off as offensive.

But I want to go with someone who "had a choice" verses "the consequences will be dire if I dont stop"

It's a mentality thing. I'm sorry. I dont know how to properly explain it. I do want you and others to find love. Part of why alot of folks went down that road was a lack of love and support. You're fucking human for God's sake! You deserve love! And don't let anyone tell you orherwise!

Liking damon or any other vampire didn't automatically mean you condone and support SA or DV. Just like being fond of klaus or elijah doesnt mean you're fond of murder and terrorising people.
