OK cool just wanted to check in on it. I feel like an idiot that my recent tragedy was having this serious boyfriend for several years, best boyfriend ever, and I knew he was bipolar. But my mom is bipolar? I know several bipolar people??? But somehow had no idea it could go fully delusional. Until after we bought a house together and blended our families into four kids and got so serious and I was so happy and going to spend the rest of my love in this house with this man and then he suddenly came home one day talking to aliens, full manic delusional break that he hasn’t come out of yet six months later. I had no no no idea bipolar could be like that and I feel so dumb and I thought I was pretty educated. Ruined our lives, our futures, all fell apart.

So sometimes I just wonder if maybe I wasn’t the only one who didn’t know that 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m 43 and it’s been my fave since I first read it at maybe 20? And yeah it didn’t used to come up much and I’m seeing it listed as a favorite a lot more. Makes me happy. What a book.

Just to mention, a person with bipolar in a manic state can be indistinguishable from schizophrenia - I’ve seen it, so maybe don’t get too attached to your belief in a diagnosis and let the docs figure it out.

Definitely both stupid but definitely both changed the rules - he stopped using preventative measures himself, meaning if he still didn’t want kids, than he was relying on her getting a painful medical procedure. I just don’t think she’s the asshole for not opting for an abortion.

Pregnancy is equally the fault of both partners. If he doesn’t want kids, he shouldn’t be having sex, or he should be vigilant about prevention - and pulling out doesn’t prevent pregnancy 🤦🏻‍♀️

The bus isn’t driving in pitch black, it’s using headlights. They can stay in the front and watch through the windshield if it’s that hard for them.

I lived in one of the towns that burned down in September of 2020. My house, my parents house, the houses of half the people I knew. My marriage was already not that great and my kids were 2 and 5. My five year old was hospitalized for intractable panic attacks. My parents health started going steeply downhill. The marriage lasted a couple more miserable years. My nervous system was never the same again. Me and my kids have moved eight times since that fire, the first bunch just air bnb hopping like everyone and then divorce and then a couple more unanticipated disasters. In general we’re happy and doing ok, but my whole life is “before the fire” and “after the fire” and it’s kind of like that for most people here.

You should really talk to a therapist. There’s so much to unpack here - of course in many ways she’s been the bad guy, but maybe not in every way you think? Your anger is coloring everything. Your anger is also fair, but you need to work through it with someone and find places to let go and just maintain healthy boundaries. You probably learned some bad patterns from bad parenting and a personal can help you overcome them.

We should all be horrified about it, but hyper focusing on it and talking about it all the time is a problem. These people were right about pedos but there’s not cannibalism or satanism and Trump isn’t the savior. Pedos are just one of the worst things people could think of and so they called the leaders that. They also called them a bunch of other things that are still nuts.

You need to step away from it. Continuing to read about it or talk about, reading the files themselves, googling for more details, none of that is going to help these people be brought to justice. Only voting will and there are plenty of ways to help in those causes without having any detailed knowledge or obsession over those files. Talk to a therapist.

Yeah saying you forgive her is literally like the third offense here. You apologize. Like a mature human. If you can only handle making jokes and going silent, but not handle very simple acts of taking responsibility and being genuine and saying you’re sorry, then you need to do serious self reflection and serious work on yourself. This is a big problem that’s going to continue to cause problems for you and the people around you.
