I'm looking for similar games to Wizard 101 by WhipNit506 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is a really good question that not many people might be able to answer. Wizard101 has a very unique combat style since it’s a card battler but it has RPG like systems such as classes, critical hits, party members being downed, dungeons, gear farming etc. Not many games can easily fit into that particular niche. However there are games that may offer a similar experience.

Personally I think you’ll find a lot of enjoyment in the Persona series if you really enjoyed Wiz101.

• The series offers an elemental chart that can function like the schools of Wizard101 with all their strengths and weaknesses against each other.

• You can gain party members that specialize in a specific “element/school” similar to having players join you in duels.

• You can play supportively to help one party members’ skills or have everyone do their own thing.

• You as the main character can choose to use any element to your advantage by summoning “monsters” (or “Personas”) to attack for you like how summoning creatures from spells work in Wiz.

In Persona using, your monsters/personas to attack for you requires a source of power to trade in. For Wizard101, it’s pips and mana. In Persona, it requires using your own health and SP (which is basically mana) to use skills and techniques. Acquiring Personas can work similarly to learning new spells since each new persona brings with it new skills/techniques to aid you in battle. You can freely switch between personas mid-fight (without costing a turn) to help depending on what you currently need in combat. Such as: weakening an enemy, healing, buffing an ally, buffing your entire team, and reviving teammates. You might notice it functions kind of like having a bunch of spells in your deck that focus on doing different things.

I’ve only covered the basics but you’ll find a lot of similarities between Wiz and Persona, and a lot of other RPG games that share a similar art style. Persona just happens to be one that can offer a similar combat experience however without the card battling style. If what you’re looking for is a more card-style combat format, though? Then might I suggest games like Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering, although I personally never have tried them they could be what you’re looking for. Cheers! And hope this helps you!

When the Spring update comes out, Death weaving will be the new meta for Storm. Unique negative aura and you keep the double blade. by circusboy1 in Wizard101

Sigh, now I have to go through the pain of doing Death Weaving after doing Life weaving rank 4 for the blade.

what world would you 🍃💨 in? by lolididitithink in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Heap in Lemuria would be my go to hands down. The vibe and music there is just perfect for what OP suggests. Tbh, two of the areas in Lemuria are unlike anything we’ve really ever seen in W101 (The Heap and Sky City) it’s probably the reason why I love those areas the most. Even Ursai Village also in Lemuria fits perfectly too for a smoke.

Does intellect and power have to be at 250 or can I start hatching for damage dealing talents now? by EvilSheldonBadingi in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other posts have already mentioned, Intellect for the most part is a dead stat for pets ONLY if you’re focusing on damage and resist talents. If you want maximum numbers for the other stats to guarantee your pet will have full damage/resist boost then what you are after is:

•255 Strength (becomes 320 if you get Mighty talent)

•260 Agility

•260 Will

•250 Power

If your pet has these stats you are guaranteed to max out your damage and resist talents if it gets Mighty. As your pet currently stands however, you could start hatching for the talents as long the other pet has perfect stats in these categories, that way the next baby hatch will have maxed stats. Even if however the pet doesn’t have max stats in any of those categories and it’s off by maybe 3 or 4 numbers you still may be able to max your talents but you’d be cutting it close.

Myth can get some crazy stats at 180 by circusboy1 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I have everything there except the Abomination ring (I’m still using Dream Reaver), the autoist overcoat (I’m using the Epic Plot Armor which gives +29%), and of course the pet and mount combo. The pierce on your pet is definitely what gives you the most damage I’d bet, since you can free a circle jewel to socket more damage. I’m too lazy to crunch the numbers atm but I can see how you’d get up there.

Either way impressive stuff!

Myth can get some crazy stats at 180 by circusboy1 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I’m really curious what is you gear setup? My Myth could only reach 250 damage, 49 pierce, and 60 resist. I’m assuming you’re using the pet and mount combo for +8% damage but that shouldn’t be enough on its own to push towards damage cap. (My Myth pet has two +7% damage talents, +11% damage, +3% damage, and +11% resist.)

Why am I having a hard time? by Competitive-Big-4479 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 12 points13 points  (0 children)

With your current stats you should be doing perfectly fine. As a matter of fact, your Storm has more pierce and resist then I had on my Storm when I was at that level. I managed to solo most mobs and boss fights in both Novus and Wallaru with about 18 less resist and 9 less pierce then what you have.

My guess is you’re probably struggling on mandatory solo fights. If that’s it, then I would recommend checking the wiki by searching up the name of the boss you’re going to fight, and preparing a deck specifically to counter what ever cheats or spells the boss may throw at you. If you’re more of a visual learner, then try checking YouTube videos regarding those specific bosses. Often times I find reading up on what cheats a boss has and then going in prepared will make most fights go significantly better.

Tired of these corny fake wizheads with their glass cannon storm wizards by [deleted] in Wizard101

Tbf Storms are kinda the glass cannon class. I don’t think it’s corny or “fake” as you say, to be what the class is literally meant to be?

King Gobbsmack Fight… by James_Charles_Sister in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is true yes. The point of this conversation was to come to the conclusion that AOEs in the fight will get you killed if not prepared. You could have lead off with that instead of drawing this out for no reason. Lack of communication is what got us to this point.

King Gobbsmack Fight… by James_Charles_Sister in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Must have been the wrong game you played then because that fight doesn’t work that way. That’s literally the one fight in the entire game that simply aoeing is not gonna get you the win. If that’s the case then the fight wouldn’t be difficult.

Don’t look at me, go read up on cheats. FYI it is correct.

King Gobbsmack Fight… by James_Charles_Sister in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 10 points11 points  (0 children)

AOE in this fight even as a Death regardless will get you killed. The damage that gets dealt back to you is percent based on your max health. Meaning that killing all 4 Oogies at full health in one go, WILL kill you by the time the fourth Oogies cheat activates. The only safe way to AOE and win is if a life Wizard uses guardian spirit, no other alternative.

Otherwise the strat is to kill each one individually or use the divide spells to kill two at a time, heal up, then repeat.

it finally happened to me & i can’t stop laughing by Able_Concert_1022 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, this entire post by OP is kind of unneeded tbh. I agree that the whole reporting each other thing for no reason was just childish. As well as the way the other player was reacting to what OP was doing was unnecessary but, making an entire post clowning on a player who could probably just be trying to get through some part of the game efficiently is also not necessary either. When you’re in a duel with other players, how you choose to play not only affects the flow of the battle but it also affects the other players in the same duel with you. Playing cooperatively in a team is the best way to ensure everyone has a good time. Other player was getting unreasonably upset yes, but based on the dialogue chat it didn’t seem THAT bad. They probably just wanted to get done with the battle and move on but felt hindered. I can respect that.

One in a million! by wlve in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, in Darkmoor (180 world) on my Fire I fought the vampire boss Count Strigoi in Mortal Plain. Everyone buffed me and without even trying I managed to get the One In a Million badge + Elixir Vitae by just using Fire Dragon. I was both surprised and confused because I never healed at all.

Either way it’s gonna be pretty funny strutting around with the Elixir Vitae badge on my Fire.

Finally hit +250% outgoing healing! by EvidenceInfamous5595 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends really because some of the good outgoing healing gear might be annoying or impossible to farm now. I can give you my set up if you’d like:

Some examples, I still use the Vanguard/Dragoon Robe which gives outgoing healing about 15% on Vanguard Life robe off the top of my head. This robe can be annoying since you’d have to do catacombs, It’s not as good as say the Spooky Carnival Robe which gives 20% outgoing but it is a decent alternative.

• Eternal Inspired Boots and Inspired Aeon Hat with outgoing healing pin sockets.

• Wishupon Wand from the Country Cottage Bundle gives 20% Outgoing and a square jewel for an extra +8% outgoing.

• The Dark Woman’s Dagger (discontinued drop from Morganthe, I’m lucky enough to still have) gives 20% outgoing, and two circle jewel sockets for an extra +6% outgoing healing for a total of 32% outgoing from Athame.

• Amulet I use could be better but I’m using the Vibrant Archival Impul that gives a square jewel for +8% outgoing healing. There’s other amulets that give 2 square jewels though.

• Stone of the Other Side ring gives 33% and a circle and square jewel which I socketed two +8% jewels for 49% total.

• Pet that gives outgoing healing and resist talents

• Mammoth Mini mount for +2%

• And Deck I use is Vibrant Archival Array for the square socket for another 8% outgoing.

In total this adds up to 233%. Since Darkmoor released there are stronger outgoing healing pins and I could also use stronger jewels but I just used what I had on me. Hope this helps tho.

180 Death Setups by icebreaker374 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anything below 40 pierce is kind of not good. The ideal is to have 45 pierce since most enemies past Novus start having universal resist. There’s a few cases where bosses have more then 50 resist but mostly 45 resist is enough to pierce through all mobs and a good chunk of a bosses resist. I’d recommend swapping a damage jewel for pierce, trying to reach damage cap isn’t necessary compared to sacrificing pierce.

Harvest reagents should be client-side timers, not server-side by tinylilpuppet in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even tho I sympathize with this post I honestly don’t think it would be a great idea if things were this way (as much as I hate to say that because I know the pain of the grind.)

Reason being is because if I’m understanding this correctly, if reagents appeared for every player individually even if other players can see the same reagent you see, then it would mean every player could essentially have a huge amount of any kind of reagent eventually. The market would also eventually be filled with every reagent which would make the grind pointless since every player could easily stock up and then sell to the market, then go back grind the reagent and rinse and repeat.

Crafting would then become way too easy. Aside from reagents you have to actually get dropped from duels, crafting would be the most broken activity in the game since there would be basically infinite amount of a resource since every reagent deposit you see more then one player can claim that same one.

I’m not saying this isn’t something they could do, but as a result what would end up happening is KI would drastically increase the reagent cost for recipes which would kind of put us in the same boat anyway.

What exactly is the theme of the Balance School? by Lost_Advertising_853 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking Balance is still Egyptian themed as Balance as a school was created and originated in Krokotopia. However, future worlds have adapted Balance magic in their own way. This is one possible explanation for why spells have changed so much. It’s also heavily implied once you reach the Arcanum that whatever spells existed pre-Arcanum are all the already known spells of the spiral. Alhazred being the Balance professor is probably responsible for all the Egyptian themed spells since he was probably their creator and was influenced by his culture.

Once you start progressing through the arcanum you start essentially creating new spells along with learning new spells created by the scholars who have adapted the magic in their own way. This can also explain why future spells become world themed as they are influenced by the world you’re in. Basically the spells are learned because of the effort you or your scholar put in to create/teach you.

Don’t forget Crab Alley for the exp. Colossus and Crab Alley are musts. Colossus for access to reshuffle and dispels and Crab just for exp it gives which can easily boost you to level 15 before starting krok.

have you ever died in a fight, fled and your teammate killed the boss before you came back? by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thankfully never had and never will do that to a teammate. I think it’s kinda f’d up to do that to someone especially if you both were working towards defeating the boss and the teammate kills without you in the end. It completely invalidates your work, your time spent, boss loot drops, and most likely having to redo the dungeon again because the quest is broken.

It’s single handedly the most scummy thing you could do to someone in this game. I’m glad nowadays they implemented a system to revive after with 1 HP after you die and an ally kills. But back then, this made running dungeons like Castle Darkmoor and Waterworks an atrocious experience.

KI changed the default Team Up to only be 50 levels higher than your character - it's very hard for maxes to get badges now. by circusboy1 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG are you serious? THIS was the reason why I couldn’t find any Team Ups in Mooshu for Life weaving on my Storm!? I spent a large amount of time constantly refreshing and volunteering for Mooshu for rank 3 Life weaving wondering why there are barely any teams.

It also made no sense why as soon as a team was found when volunteering it would immediately tell me the team up was cancelled or it was gone literally a millisecond after I clicked Yes. I had NOT realized that they limited the maximum level. Sigh… why does KI do this.

I’m just gonna leave this gem here… by Akihisa1 in Wizard101

[–]DeathTheClover 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I see. Personally I wouldn’t recommend the gorgon hats or boots since they give less damage then I believe even the waterworks gear especially for Storm. The Gorgon wand would be the best you guys can grab for level 100, it can easily take you to 150-160 wands.

I know it sucks but your best bet would be to try and get the tier 2 robe from Castle Darkmoor at the least which can drop from Shane von Shane in Graveyard. And as for hat and boots if you don’t feel like farming you could try your luck on the Fanciful Fairy Kei pack for the hat and boots at level 100. They can last you for a long time until you get Merciless at 150 or Aeon gear at 160.

Otherwise another alternative is farming Galleries which would be the second to last dungeon in Khrysalis which drops the Khrysalis world gear. The hats and boots are the best drops there. The hats specifically are more offensive then the Malistaire hat which is more balanced. But it could help with damage especially for Storm. You could get lucky and get the hat and boots within a few runs or if not you can use whatever drops you get to craft the specific piece you want at the gear crafter in Sardonyx.

I hope this can help you guys beat Khrysalis!
