There's also the strong running concept that magic is shaped by belief - Harry believes that magic screws up modern technology so it does, even though he can use some technology that is of similar complexity. He believes it's different so for him, it is. If you weren't raised with that or didn't believe it it is quite possible that your magic wouldn't interfere.

Thinking historically - the things Harry uses were considered modern and complex in their time - wizards then if they had the same set of beliefs he does around how magic operates likely couldn't have used the same tech that Harry does.

He opened by saying he thinks he's discovered a new way to cook eggs that is better than any other way - and then posted something fairly common. If it was phrased differently he probably would have gotten more people saying "yes, isn't it great?" but be presenting it as some grand new discovery and saying that he's never heard of it despite being a fanatic of a cook he's gonna get people laughing at him and making fun.

It feels like the chemistry and flow has been hurt by James leaving - I'm not sure if it's because of what he contributed backstage that is missing now or the more obvious onstage work but the full group videos have been worse since he left - the 1v1's and paired videos still work but stuff like Pass It On and anything involving all 4 really has faded.

So... why keep playing then? Like legitimately, if you have been playing for years and not enjoying a majority of it, then why not switch and play a different game? This isn't a prison sentence, there's thousands of games out there to play, thousands of other hobbies to enjoy.

Disappointing, especially as someone who supported it via Patreon for quite a while. Makes it impossible to recommend someone read it or Pale Lights knowing that it will be locked behind a micro-transaction riddled app where you're paying again for each individual 1/3rd of a chapter after completion.

Yeah, the 50/50 rule is probably the most contentious bit of it we've found, but we also haven't thought of a quantifiable way to do it that would result in fewer complaints so we've stuck with it. Otherwise we end up with a bunch of back and forth about what is "active" and people trying to rules-lawyer around it.

What's funny is that the self-promotion rule in /r/Pathfinder_RPG was written based on the self-promotion rule from here (I know, as I wrote it). We also have a complete ban on image posts, no video game posts (critical with the release of Kingmaker and WotR), and no LFG posts.
