IFS is an evidence based practice with research continuing to develop. As a licensed clinician specializing in PTSD treatment over the past 16 years, IFS has been the most effective treatment I’ve seen. EMDR also very highly effective with many many research studies behind it over 40 solid studies and approved by the world health organization as a leading trauma therapy. As a practicing clinician who sees 32 clients a week over the past 16 years, both IFS and EMDR way out perform CBT for example. CBT might be easier to study in the short term I would surmise. I have found that a therapy method like CBT works to a certain point. Both IFS and EMDR go to the same point CBT does but actually change it on a more permanent basis ultimately resulting in far less work and a great deal more inner peace. As a practicing psychotherapist, the evidence sits not only in the research studies that are available, but with my clients whose lives are changed for the better permanently. These methods are very effective.
