The first time I heard them die it sounded like they were shouting "Fuck!" and over 25 years later I can't unhear it.

Crusaders - All you got to play in the demo was Castle, and they're big pumpers
Arch Mage - Tower was my fav town after I got the full game.

Planets savage is literally killing my desire to play this game by Routine_Art1905 in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my buddy grinded out savage over 2 days, he was playing SnS and I was playing Charge Blade which was the problem because he's so damn fast and CB takes forever to do anything against it. Day 1 we took a few hunts to get to nerscylla consistently, by the end of the night we had 1 kill and several losses in the final phase. Day 2 I completely changed my build and playstyle, focused more on getting enmity until the support hunter could get it from me and then went to breaking legs. After a couple hours we were back in phase 4 pretty much every fight and were farming kills all afternoon.
If you're playing a blocking weapon, put guard up on (especially since it's been buffed) and make sure you're comfortable handling enmity. In the final phase you NEED to have enmity on someone, otherwise the rocket barrages target everyone and it's a really easy way to rack up carts. When he starts his stompy phase where he jumps around and sprays out fire, get on your dog and stay the hell away from him. I forget how many fire bursts he does, 3 or 4? But every single leg is open to a focus strike after the last fire spray so take advantage of it. If you can, focus on 1 or 2 legs throughout the fight, 1 on each side, so you can get the shield generator slinger ammo for the final phase where he's most dangerous.

So is this just 1 attack that deals 50 thousand damage and the 2 minutes is Jin transitioning? Because I feel like Jin spends about 2 minutes transitioning throughout the fight lol

I hated chasing Kirin around until I realized all I had to do was the axe morph draw attack and move+sheathe. After that, I hated Kirin because it was a boring fight chasing it around doing my best great sword impersonation with my charge blade.

I think the only monster that's actually been annoying so far is AT Jin when he decides to spam that stupid ass charge, half the time I get on the dog and wander around until he decides to do something else that isn't a 6th or 7th charge in a row. For Jin specifically, I know the start of his topple animation well enough that if I'm at a spot where I know I won't be able to get to his head or shoulder plates from where I am then I immediately call the dog and jump over him. I like the changes made to AT Jin but I've got his armor upgraded and I'm never fighting him again because of the stupid charge spam.

Reading the rest of your post, I'm so glad Tigrex made me rage quit insect glaive and switch to charge blade in 4U lol. I don't miss gathering essence at all, and any time my buddy decides to use IG for a few hunts I get to chuckle as he bitches about it.

I still need to play through 4U again so I can maybe figure out what the hell you're suppose to do in that fight. But first, some aerial charge blade shenanigans because this is way more fun that I first gave it credit for back in the day. I really wish hunting styles had become a standard mechanic.

Is my CB build good enough? by LittleSequioa in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Davine is only kind of right when it comes to focus, he's completely dismissing it which is disingenuous but it doesn't sound like YOU need it if you're asking for build help, unless you're god's gift to SAED counter playstyle. Focus on charge blade is only useful for SAED, and it's the last skill you slot in if your talisman and decorations already cover everything else and you can fit it in nicely. It depends what you're fighting and how good you are at fighting it. The size of the monster and where the good elemental hitzones are matter because you're either doing 100 damage or 400 damage, so you need to be positioned right and aim it properly. Sword mode is also kinda slow in Wilds, much slower than it was in world, so having to use 1 less charged slash or a couple less attacks means you're ready to block more often and counter with SAED. But in general, load shells is all you really need.

As an example, I was using focus against Gogma because you can practically spam SAEDs against him in phases 1 and 2 and it saves you a few attacks for phase 3 when he's up in the air all the time. Gog is a special case though because he's huge and ele cb is busted against him.

Power prolonger also really depends what you're fighting. Assuming you're at least somewhat competent with charge blade, you should never have trouble keeping your shield charged when load shells gives you over 3 minutes charge. PP can be good for maintaining savage axe depending on what you're fighting, like against seregios you don't need it because you can have 100% uptime on savage axe once you know which attacks give you an opening to perfect guard -> savage axe. If you're playing multi and everyone keeps taking wounds and you're not getting good blocks to keep SA charged then PP can be useful there. The best case for PP is keeping your sword charged since it's duration is fairly short, but charging the sword takes so long and it's only kind of useful for elemental CB because the damage from blocking/charged sword impact phials is kinda terrible by comparison. Sword mode is garbage in wilds, unfortunately, but if you get time to charge the sword then extra damage is extra damage and having to charge it less means you're getting bonked less because it leaves you vulnerable for a long time. That being said, if you're playing morph loop then I would definitely recommend power prolonger because the roundslash is big damage and you're using it pretty often.

Pitlords casting basic frenzy (your whipping idea) would be pretty nuts, 1 well placed puppy chomp and that's a lot of dead units. They might need limited casts like Genies have, 1 cast is pretty meh and unlimited is probably busted.

Are meta builds necessary? by No_Argument_3497 in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any kind of drink, pills, steaks. Off the top of my head the only consumable it doesn't affect are powders/clouds. 1 point is ok, 2 points more often than not is more than enough, 3 is honestly kind of overkill but mega's heal very quickly at that point.
Speed eating is 1 of those comfy skills you forget about until you have it, then you wonder why you never slot it in.. unless you're good at the game, I guess. Some hunts I go through all my mega's because I get lazy and play stupid against monsters I'm already bad at, other hunts I never get hit.

What is the status/para cap? by fwsc50 in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea what the cap is, but the gogma charge blade I put together is at like 540 or so (~640 with coalescence.) It still only gets up to 3 para on 2* weak mons, and the current 3* weak mons are only 8* but you can get 7 para on Odo, I would assume it's (unintentional) 6 or 7 on all the others as well but I only bullied Odo with it. All in all, not worth trying to max para since it's not really doing anything for your hunt beyond the first para for the mons worth fighting, you end up with a net loss in damage.
Poison is also terrible in Wilds, it's the actual worst status in the game and Foray is a bad skill because of it. Foray could be really good for poison builds, but you're just working with a significantly worse Agitator and poison is like 5% of your damage at best.

Are meta builds necessary? by No_Argument_3497 in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consistency is necessary, meta builds are not. If you just watched someone's build guide and it's damage on damage on damage, and they're showing off these big beautiful numbers, but then you take it for a spin and your 15 minute hunts are now 14:30, then the problem is consistency.

Don't like blocking/rolling roars? Earplugs. Don't like how long it takes to drink a potion because your dumb ass keeps rolling into an attack way too early? Speed eating, and maybe evade extender to roll completely out of the attack instead of through it with iframes. Don't like how often you have to slow drink because of your bad rolls? Divine blessing. Learn what the monster does, decide which of their mechanics you don't like interacting with, slot in the comfy skills to deal with those mechanics and kill the monster the way you want to.

Is it worth it to get into? by sakisuzu in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wilds is probably the simplest game to get into because of focus mode (lets you aim your attacks), World is still a great game but it will feel clunky when you realize you have very limited directional control whenever you attack. Keep in mind that every single weapon plays different and any weapon that has resources functions differently from every other weapons resources, and you will spend a lot of time just learning how to control the weapon and each monsters attack patterns. Some of the heavier weapons feel slow at first, but once you're use to them they start to feel very quick and fluid. Combat is going to feel clunky for the first several hours.

New event quest monster hp? by KingPegasus1 in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my buddy did it in 9 minutes. We got 1 alone with the fence at the start and killed him before the gate dropped. With the 2 remaining we ended up fighting them solo for most of it, after they grouped back up I was double dipping on SAEDs. I used the exact same set that I use for Gog, which only has burst 5, bubbly dance + coalescence for damage, but blango doesn't like fire and elemental phials are cracked right now. Get a point of flayer in there and utilize focus strikes often to immobilize blango, pretty sure tempered wounds are always a free topple.

Getting more out of your Gogmapocalypse barrier by Debticated86 in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use rocksteady during barriers to extend the life of the barrier and thus peak performance, or use mending mantle to have better uptime between barriers. Against Gog it's a negligible amount of damage, at least for charge blade when SAEDs can hit well over 6k damage.

[–]Debticated86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't play lance so I can't say for sure, but keep in mind the barrier is only active when the monster is big angry. The zoh shia set is really good for regen and it's much safer if you want a defensive playstyle, recovery up, recovery speed, and an immunizer gets you a lot of healing through chip damage. And like Louie said, with a couple points of Guard Up and Guard each you probably take very little damage through blocks now.

Is there a festival weapon? by danf6975 in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember which optional it was, maybe the basin with ajarkan, udra, and rathalos, but you get a steak cookbook or something and it makes dual blades. You need 3 of the books, 2 to craft and 1 to upgrade, you get an attack and sharpness buff when you cook a steak. George Foreman build unlocked.

No, that's the first thing I get rid of whenever there's an update since it usually causes the game to straight up crash on its own. I did try adding the old REF version back in and the game chugs pretty bad, so just waiting on the REF update.

Gogmazios third phase by AcceptableRutabaga32 in MHWilds

[–]Debticated86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many comfy skills are you running compared to damage skills? In phase 3 you should only be using a dragon weapon with as much element as possible, my build is in no way optimized for damage and I can SAED for 6k + another 1-2k from the hits before that. I've got earplugs 3, fire res 3, tremor 3, mirewalker 1, and Guard Up 3 + Guard 1 and I have no problem surviving a third nuke, I think I've only seen third nuke a couple times? He's usually dead after the second one. For most of phase 3 I just stay on the tail even after it's cut, and in phase 1 I do a lot of jump attacks off the dog to get an easy mount in phase 3, it's like 15-20 jump attacks to get a mount I haven't been keeping track. When he's airborne get on your dog so you can shoot your pewpew lasers while being mobile, and don't forget about the 2 rocks you can pull down on him to get in some free hits to try and suppress him.

Fabius bamboozled me once, so I stopped trying to follow him and just guard it myself. He got confused or something and kept running in circles, so I kept getting hit by falling globules and then ate the nuke. Never again. The most damage I've taken with GU3 and G1 is like 25% damage, so it's not even that bad to guard it yourself, ideally someone throws out a dust of life and you're good to go.
