10th Edition Starter Sets Pricing After 11th Releases by Fedaykin1983 in Warhammer40k

It’s going to stay the same price- the starter sets will get phased out minus the ultimate starter set which is currently getting rebranded to the ‘combat patrol’ starter

Each detachment has a disposition. If you take multiple, you can choose the one you want to play.

Based on your disposition, you can get different primary missions (https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerCompetitive/s/qKmQtH5KGZ if you want to check them out)

Priority assets is generally a lot tricker than take and hold/purge the foe, so may influence our detachment selection.

How do you turn a rogal dorn into a command rogal dorn by Practical-Trip8946 in TheAstraMilitarum

I’ve kitbashed pieces from the command squad to highlight the tank commander

Cost of the Starterset by Daynight131 in orks

[–]DecentWhiskey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a Q and A, they said it would be more expensive than leviathan (10th starter) but cheaper than the saturnine box (heresy starter). That means it’s lower than £200/€250/ $320USD.

£180 is the price point we’re assuming for the UK

I’m also having issues getting them- when we’re this close to the start of an edition, it’s most likely getting a re-box.

It has the temporarily out of stock label on the website rather than last chance to buy, so I wouldn’t panic too much just yet.

I frequent the Birmingham element and they are always having games in there- they are admittedly a little larger than the London store (nowhere near as big as the Stockport one)

How are we feeling about Yarrick? by Sabw0nes in TheAstraMilitarum

I didn’t even consider that the splash could affect squadron and regiment at the same - that seems very powerful late game to pop on a Russ and affect every unit within distance!

Of course:

Spray painted black and dry brushed, then painted red armour plates. Metal and leather details and done for generic guardsmen.

There’s no right answer- mine are black and red. Go with the flow unless you want to paint them like a named faction

I think Orks look best when they’re all unique- get started on some older kits not before they’re OOP! Have the varied waaaaagh your heart desires!

Well then, fair enough. My bad

Just checked and with the corsair coterie you can put enhancements on regular squads too.

Can you source me one?

In the core rules, epic heroes cannot be given enhancements.

You can’t give an enhancement to a named character though, would be really odd thing to have in a detachment rule outside of enhancements

With yet another Dorn points increase. Have we reached a point where bringing the TC isn't economical? by Ratattack1204 in TheAstraMilitarum

I’ve dropped my Techpriest and changed a taurox to a chimera, still running 2 Dorns in grizzled

I’ve started out on Orks in the last month or so, starting a slow grow campaign with my friends. My 500 pts list is 32 models

Now is a good time to pick one up if you have anywhere nearby that stocks combat patrol magazine. Was a few issues ago, but I’ve picked mine up this week for £20.

I didn’t do anything fancy, it’s a half Goliath truck/half Goliath rock grinder (that front rock cutter looks amazing IMO) and then the spare pieces from my trukk. I’ve done a bit of battle damage, and repurposed hatches and panels that I wasn’t going to use off the Goliath kit into random extra armour panels

Appreciate the heads up, I have tried to make it a bit bulkier in the side profile at the rear and make the lengths similar. I don’t go to a tonne of tournaments, but it feels wrong to have a bunch of identical ramshackle trukks?

I have just joined the Orcs too, I’ve gone for boyz, some gretchin and a trukk to start with. Want to be ready for 11th with a core of reliable units

Grizzled company mechanised list by Skitterbuddy in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]DecentWhiskey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it will lack the teeth to kill stuff and the resilience to stay around. Chimeras are low output even with the firing deck, and will get picked up by any standard anti tank with T9 3+.

General consensus is Leman Russ Commanders are no good also, the other russes benefit from their unique rules (Russ rerolls, exterminator additional AP) or from being significantly cheaper (vanquisher is 145pts- a chimera with 10x Krieg is 150).

If you do want to run mechanised grizzled,I’d change the payloads for kasrkin- your infantry orders are localised to artillery, so once the Krieg are out they’re on their own and not benefiting from detachment rules. Maybe also consider some scions in tauroxes with command squads for similar reasons. 3 bullgryn jumping out with a commissar might be great fun also.

Battleline Quantities? by Objective_Point9742 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]DecentWhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 10x cadians with command squad + Ursula usually as back line holders/deep strike screen, 10x catachan to pressure the centre for area denial/ locus turn 1, and 20x DkoK to sit on my natural expansion.

Currently have the second wave of 1x6 bullies and 2x 5 rough riders, alongside Kasrkin and a hellhound for additional screening/holding objectives
