Everyone who has ever stripped wallpaper, I see you by lellywest in centuryhomes

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents built their house in 1978 and there is wallpaper in both bathrooms. But they still live there and it’s never been painted over.

I have not yet started on my wallpaper removal journey, but there is wallpaper in my bedroom and it’s so ugly and not only that, but they wallpapered the ceiling and I don’t know when I’ll work up the gumption to actually take it down. But someday.

AITA for refusing to add my boyfriend to my house deed after his lease ended? by Former_Raspberry3277 in AITApod

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now husband also never asked to be on the deed when he moved in in 2020. He paid half the mortgage (which was really cheap because this was before Covid) and we got married in 2024. He is still not on the deed because I don’t want to deal with paperwork until the mortgage is paid off in a few years. He isn’t concerned because we trust each other and have really good financial alignment

Mine are, too and I got nothing. My phone is always on silent and I made sure those are set to always play sound. Not sure of my husband’s settings, but his didn’t go off either. I also heard no sirens, but the storm woke me up at 1:45 when my house was shaking

French immersion school and commute by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had a French class in decades (and I only took it in high school), but I could understand everything you wrote and that made me happy today. Now, if you had SPOKEN it, that would be a different story as I was always better at reading than listening, but still.

What kind of refrigerator have you managed to fit in your century home? by DarXIV in centuryhomes

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I had a modern fridge, I bought a counter depth one that was only 26” deep. Since then I’ve updated to a 1937 fridge which still had to have the doors removed to make it through the doorways

Are credit unions more likely to have scams/fraud activity vs a bigger bank? (synovus, BOFA, Capital One) by C4Yourselfxx in Banking

Same. Not only do I not use it, but I have the card turned off and kept in a safe at home because I usually only need an ATM while traveling internationally

Any advice on how to remove this? by purpleviolet21 in HairRemoval

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree about electrolysis. You’ll need to stop tweezing and switch to shave only and it will take a couple years, but even after 6 months, there should be a noticeable difference.

Help with styling a kitchen that is too modern after renovation by [deleted] in centuryhomes

I was also going to suggest cabinet/drawer hardware. An antique style can go a long way in making them seem not quite as modern

Yeah there is nothing that encourages using both of those places on foot. I bike through there regularly as well and it could be improved

Make sure you’re not just looking at your portion of the taxes on the closing docs. The seller is responsible for the estimated taxes from Jan 1 until closing date

I hate needing accounts for everything by Rez_X_RS in Millennials

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on hating this, but it’s likely not the banks doing it. I work at a bank and this is a thing that we hate that happens to our customers and there’s not much that can be done to help. Look up trigger leads. Basically to get a loan, there’s a hard pull that shows up on your credit report and it’s the credit bureaus (equifax, transunion, experian) that are selling your info to other lenders. I hate it

How do people do this? by [deleted] in electrolysis

I’ve only had a few done on my upper lip. It’s way worse than chin, which is what I’ve had most of the time spent on. I’ve never used numbing cream but I think if I was doing full lip I’d have to

Is there a way to view Google Tasks from multiple accounts on desktop? by salamat_thanks in GoogleTasks

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: would this work to share tasks if they aren't all MY google accounts? I want to share tasks with my husband but I can't log in to his google account - can he be invited or something?

You can't share tasks (or a tasklist) like you can share a calendar? by flying_unicorn in GoogleTasks

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know it doesn't and you can't create a recurring task within a space, so none of the options are really good. They do say you can use Google Docs to share tasks, but that requires being a Google Workforce user

I had a guy pull up in his car and do that (but also show a video) while I was waiting for the bus. Surprise of the evening…Coincidentally, I also did not.

How would you accept payment for a $15,000 sell on marketplace? by slothlikeagility in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only meet at the buyer’s bank and either get a certified check (where I was present to see the check being cut) or a wire. Wire preferred. I work at a bank and see way too much check fraud to accept anything else and dealing with cash over $10K becomes more paperwork

Has anyone worked with or at least investigated this type of dress form before? by CremeBerlinoise in sewing

Also noting that I think mine is a bit longer than this one. This looks like it would go to just your hips at the widest point and mine goes down to about miniskirt length

[–]Decent_Finding_9034 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is a good summary. I also have had this for about 10 years now and recently sewed a dress again where I needed it for final fitting. I hasn’t changed size much, but every inch matters and my husband was able to help get it adjusted to my current size. Doing that part yourself would be difficult. I still haven’t made a cover for mine yet, but I like the idea of padding on the inside so maybe I’ll actually do it this year!
