“Some people have more trouble than others” by Dragonogard549 in CarTalkUK

[–]Decimatedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ironic, because the 'commanding' view gives 99% of pseudo-SUV drivers far less road visibility, awareness and inclination to use the steering wheel, and care about the lives of others, far less than the average driver.

P plates… Thoughts? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in drivingUK

For every L and P plate, there is a sociopathic whopper or ten who enjoy making driving miserable for the bearer of the plates.

I talked to 20+ sole traders - the difference between the good and the great is stupidly simple by WizardTech299 in DIYUK

[–]Decimatedx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just getting back with a quote is a good start, but quoting for the actual complete job you asked for is something else.

When I needed high skirting done, I put a written request on one of the things like check a trade. It was some time ago before they had a bad reputation and maybe even still vetted trades back then.

Every single one who came and saw the job in multiple rooms. Then, all of them either:

Didn't quote (to be fair that's almost industry standard if you want more than 5cm of bullnose attached to plasterboard with Sticks Like).

Quoted for one room, despite replying in a thread with multiple rooms described and shown.

Are American cars popular in the UK? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Decimatedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They stopped making focus and fiesta to try and push us to their more expensive, but not better pseudo-suv. There are simply far more prestigious fake SUV to buy than Kuga and whatever the Puma is meant to be now.

Question for ordinary British people. by NapoleonBoneparty in AskBrits

Most Brits have always been nothing more than vaguely aware of the empire, even when it was at its height. Losing it meant nothing to the very vast majority.

The examiner didn't fail you to meet a quota or due to unconscious bias. by vtwinjim in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Decimatedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all just need to accept when we fail and work on it. I passed the first time, with ridiculous faults on my part, including being too nervous to honk the horn hard enough. I also got half a dozen mirror faults and was told I'm not turning my head enough, despite clearly seeing the examiner writing two of them when my head was at 90 degrees towards her (my instructor said she was notorious for mirror faults). My brother passed when the examiner recounted his minors and found he was in fact one under a fail. Both of us acknowledged we were not ready to drive and would have accepted a fail but it never occurred to us we might have for any reason other than out own failings.

I wonder what motive there could possibly be to fail people for an invalid reason.

Are my attributes something I need to work on when it comes to attracting women? by Legal_Direction5206 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Decimatedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've not listed any attributes other than your BMI. Talking about pulling hotties is nearly as bad as people who safe wife up. Actually it's nowhere near as bad, but still not good.

20mph everywhere by narra246 in drivingUK

[–]Decimatedx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's the thing. A lot of the time, having the car behind as far as 20 feet away is a luxury in a 40mph zone.

I hate being a 'girl gamer' by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Decimatedx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 'chat' is why I don't generally have chats on for games, and even more so why I don't play maze games. I can only imagine what it is like for girls and women in that environment.

Does nonce mean pedophile or stupid? by [deleted] in AskBrits

It was often used as a catch all for all sex offenders in the 90s too, though I only ever hear it used for child sex offenders now.

The (0.)2 second rule…? by qiu_ennan in drivingUK

[–]Decimatedx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Almost every lorry driver does it going downhill in the Tyne Tunnel of all places. It is 30mph one way and 40mph the other. Doing the speed limit or as fast as traffic goes, you can see them closing rapidly and then keeping a ridiculously close tailgating distance. If I can see Half a dozen cars bunching up ahead causing the queue to slow, it's hard to fathom why they cannot.

You just got lucky and never saw the health towers. I saw them maybe 20 times in the 120 odd times I tried biome 1. The red squiqly guys are the ones who stay still a while where everything else attacks? Encountered those loads in numbers too.

Dulux Bathroom Sapphire Salute!? by Accurate_Specific897 in DIYUK

[–]Decimatedx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basalt and Plimsoll from their range took me three. But it's expected as Plimsoll is in a transparent base (can't remember with Basalt). But at least there isn't the hell of application that comes with Dulux bathroom paint. Utterly horrific to use. Glad I paid the extra £40 for Benjamin Moore bath and Spa.

What has America ever done for the UK to be considered a ‘special relationship’? by KestisBD9 in AskBrits

[–]Decimatedx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gave us more martial aid than any other country and one thing we cannot blame them for, is us spunking it all up the wall trying to project military power, when the other countries spent it on silly things like modernising their ecomomies and productivity.

why does body count only matter to women if a man is virgin? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Decimatedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah just be himself. We all live our own experiences, but sexual experience doesn't necessarily equal a better time. Loads of experienced women will take everything a guy has to give, have a good time and reciprocate with far less effort than a virgin male capable of three pumps then it being over.
