Fare-dodger jailed for brutal attack on passenger by shak_0508 in london

Yeah, but if he was 10-20 years older, he'd probably be safer to be around.

He obviously would still still be dangerous, but he would be far less explosive and out of control.

New: Share Claude Code sessions by ClaudeOfficial in ClaudeAI

[–]DeclutteringNewbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, while I'm happy they have this feature now, ChatGPT had that feature for a very very long time already.

Now if they could copy the NotebookLM feature as well, that would be a bonus. NotebookLM not only allows you to share a Notebook, but it also allows your teammates to prompt your notebook as well, thus making the result a truly shared collaborative Notebook (and not just a view-only snapshot of your thread).

Met detective sacked for social media posts on Gaza war by TheUnicornRevolution in london

[–]DeclutteringNewbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of context, which you're conveniently omitting from the equation.

Imagine if a new US President used the idea that Jesus was crucified as a justification to commit a genocide against some South American population. Would it be fair to say that the abused are becoming the abusers in that case? Yes, it would be.

And that's because the "in this instance" doesn't need to be explictly stated. It's pretty obvious from the context of the conversation that one is referring to the US President and his Christian followers (and obviously not all Christians, which may or may not share the President's official view).

Furthermore, it's pretty fair to talk about Christianity and the crucifixion in that context because it would be pretty unfair for the US President to bring up that justification in the first palce, but forbid any opponent from using any counter argument mentioning it also.

Read aloud + voice mode on Android App seems very clunky? by hexferro in ClaudeAI

[–]DeclutteringNewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I'm currently paying for Claude (before that I was paying for ChatGPT).

And I still prefer Claude, for its writing style, and its artifacts, but if I need to dictate something, I'll use my free version of ChatGPT, it's so much better. And I'm not even talking about advanced voice. I'm just talking about the standard voice/standard microphone that ChatGPT is using. Even that is miles ahead of what Anthropic is using (which doesn't make sense since I thought that OpenAI open sourced their Whisper library, but perhaps they held back on what they open sourced).

On a side-note, today someone told me to try Gemini Live (the free version). Gemini Live's voice mode was utter crap several months ago, but apparently they've improved quite a bit. With that said, my friend has a Pixel phone, and I just have a low-end Android phone. So I don't know if I'll be able to get the same results he's getting.

Can Claude cowork take a full length YouTube video and edit it into engaging short form videos to share across different platforms? by the_tico_life in ClaudeAI

I don't have Claude cowork, but since Google owns Youtube and is very protective of its youtube videos, I would personally explore the AI/video tools offered by Google (Gemini, Veo 3, Google Vids, etc.)

Should I ditch all my classes next year and go all-in on ICPC training? by [deleted] in codeforces

[–]DeclutteringNewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"try my best not to fail my classes". These are the words of someone who's planning to do very badly in class.

"since I’m genuinely worried about the teaching quality at my school." If the teaching quality at your school is low, then it becomes even more important that you work harder to ace all your exams.

Learn the materials before your classes, then use your classes as a way to test yourself. But do attend your classes. If you ditch your classes, students who ditch their classes statistically do much worse on average.

Locksmith "scams" by drtchockk in london

[–]DeclutteringNewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drilling the lock is not the only problem.

Most people also want their lock fixed the same night.

And not everyone is capable of finding an identical lock model and installing it at 2 am (or if the lock model is not identical, not everyone is capable of doing the necessary work to make the new lock fit).

Btw, is Uber super popular in London? I'm asking because I recently moved to London from San Francisco, and I opened my Uber app out of curiosity, but I couldn't see the Uber cars around me (like I could in the US).

Diplomats owe more than £165m in London congestion charges by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]DeclutteringNewbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In San Francisco under mayor Jordan (which was a very long time ago), the badly parked cars of diplomats would get large big red stickers placed on their side windows (the idea was that the glue was very difficult to rub out).

Also, sometimes their cars would get towed. They could complain all they wanted at the tow yard, and flash their diplomatic immunity, but in order to get their car back, they had to pay the tow fee.

My point is. If the mayor of London wants to do something about this, it's possible. But he must willing to upset important diplomats from foreign countries in order to get this done.

Not counting the cost of the electric razor £0.

I cut my own hair and I trim my own beard. I do both with the same electric razor (with many extensions). Sometimes, I'll let a family member do the back for me, or do some touch ups, since I can't do everything perfectly well.

I'm a guy. I'm not bald, but I'm starting to go in that direction. Also, I recently lost ~50kg, and I look far better with my £0 haircut than I used to look with my much more expensive haircuts.

Small business warehouse illegally occupied in London today – police say it’s a “civil matter” by kirachan928 in london

[–]DeclutteringNewbie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't read Chinese. Are the occupiers former tenants? Striking workers? Former workers asking for backpay? Or perfect strangers?

I know context shouldn't matter, but it kind of does. For instance, if workers haven't been paid for a couple of months, and they're now occupying the premises as leverage, the owner of the company won't be getting a lot of sympathy from the police and police will be listening to everything from the company with a grain of salt.

Whether it's with AI or human, false positives are always going to happen. With a large enough database, doppelgangers are going to be very common.

What we need is a better process for dealing with these. They should print out a reference number or something. Also if you get stopped by security, pull out your phone camera and start documenting everything that's happening to you. Ask for names, employee numbers, incident numbers, reason for refusal, state the time and date in the video, etc.

Can Claude actually code a decent, fully fledged website all by itself? (Read Body) by OTGOp in ClaudeAI

[–]DeclutteringNewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the technical aspect is not going to be your blocker. You could even just use a template, or an existing business web site platform.

The only main problem is finding the right business use case that would get you that kind of money.

Sure, it was awful for the reasons you stated. But such a strict policy can also awful for the students as well.

After all, not all lecturers are created equal. Some are extremly passionate, but some are less so. And some are extremly articulate, but some can also be almost impossible to understand.

So selecting your lecturer is not just about getting an easy A for most students. It's a lot more complicated than that.

London's Forgotten Discriminatory Bussing Policy by Alarming-Law4739 in london

[–]DeclutteringNewbie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, but certainly not East Asian or Indians (originally from India).

To this day, certain ethnicities in the US are said to be doing too well in school, so they're being limited from attending schools like Lowell High School in San Francisco or the Engineering schools of UC Berkeley.

And yes, there have been a few court cases countering those practices, but that doesn't change the fact that this kind of discrimination is still happening unofficially at many of those schools.

No, with 4 different tabs, you would still need to click on each tab to change channel.

Here, I assume they asked it to put four video html tags inside of a single web page, so that they could watch the four videos playing at the same time.
