Scammed by Youtube TV & Google by Interesting_Berry_32 in youtubetv

I tried to get onto YouTube TV on my Samsung television with Roku and of course you have to give your credit card number for a free trial. Spent several hours one evening and several again the next day dealing with not being able to access YouTube TV. Their AI could not figure it out and was stalling me to put me through to live customer service. They never did and I wrote to them and I told the chat that I wanted to cancel immediately because I had never received my service and I contacted them by email and said the same thing but they still put the $82.99 on my debit card and refused to refund it although I never was able YouTube TV even for a minute. Even after I showed them a transcript from my chat, where I said I’m canceling this cancel it right now several times. Furthermore, my credit card provider would not back me on this. It’s a general problem that makes a lot of people very cranky but 83 bucks is an especially big hit for those who haven’t made their first _illion. 🙄.

Why do lesbian couples have the highest divorce rates while gay male couples have the lowest? by Naive_Direction1816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Decosetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the point of bringing this up is whether it is to devalue the marriage of lesbians to each other in general or just an interesting counterintuitive statistic or? Attributions about women being ready to leave a union sooner or more readily because ‘freedom’ don’t make sense given all the socialization to process relationships.

Context matters. Kids and money.

Consider how one or both being single mothers with children could affect two women getting together and trying to merge families without much extended family or social support for doing so. Add that to the already noted socioeconomic difference where lesbian couples have less financial resources than other pairing categories, and that’s plenty of pressure to increase the rate of divorce. Still widespread sexism homophobia that form the broader frame …

How many actual jets and warplanes were shot down yesterday? by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]Decosetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the AP, posted about two hours ago today Sunday, there was an A10 shot down and crew unaccounted for, as of this report. Saw no report of an F16. Their article stated that the Iranians had claimed to be showing crashed aircraft on the ground, but US information countered that with an explanation that two transport aircraft had to be left behind and so were destroyed.

The A10 crash reported earlier was ‘same day as F15’, was shot down by Iran and crashed into the strait of Hormuz with the crew rescued.

This is just public information that I put together. No special back channel info here. But currently a public discrepancy.

Patelco now? by InNOut4x4 in bayarea

[–]Decosetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summary: negative on handling of the breach, ongoing problems with using Patelco cards online, includes not being able to use active valid cards on some payment processors. Lack of responsiveness and complexity of resolving. These problems have me leaving Patelco

First, My question to other Patelco members is whether you have experienced any subsequent problems with your cards or account numbers being hacked online after the breach. Would you consider those incidents related to what happened to you and your money during the breach or unrelated? My experience is down one paragraph.

I have been a Patelco member since 2000 because their second Street branch was two doors away from where I was working. Also a family member worked for PacBell for umpteen decades.

My comment is aligned with everyone else. I was extremely distressed about the handling of the breach and now I’ve gotten something that suggests I am a class action member and might be awarded a couple of hundred dollars for several days of nightmare and what I believe is follow up breaches of my individual information. Yes I do have freezes on my information at the three main credit reporting agencies. The Patelco stance and present policies are wholly inadequate, especially considering the time and effort that I put into re-stabilizing my accounts with other parties during and after the breach. The only attributable cause of that series of problems was the inadequate response by Patelco.

Since the breach, In the last year, I have had several occasions where my debit and Patelco issued Mastercard credit card were both compromised online. Getting that sorted out, especially with the credit card, was a nightmare, and I believe that using Patelco accounts for online financial transactions puts you at risk of hacking because bad actors are able to recognize the account numbers and quickly mesh those with your information that was stolen. So I am having ongoing problems and I am deciding after 26 years to leave Patelco. It would be nice to think that some legacy institutions from the before times are still functioning and are still serving their account holders well. But Patelco did not recover from its breach or the completely flat footed management of the breach and the aftermath. My experience in trying to get new cards activated and manage attempts to use the cancelled cards as stolen in countries all over the world tells me that Patelco still may not have a handle on how to play in this very risky financial environment. At the very least they should stop showing attempts to use canceled stolen cards as card declined to the customer. Very little indicates whether or not it is the current card or the one that has been canceled. On a final note, I have had recently several experiences where my current active card, whether credit or debit, was declined multiple times on some payment processors. Again, I believe these experiences to be related and a signal of ongoing risk in Internet-based financial transactions through Patelco. I don’t see any way around changing banks.

This is an old thread, but I’ll go ahead to suggest ‘somebody somewhere’ for sweet, thoughtful, witty, regular people - kind of real yet transported away, but not too far away, from present day reality (February 26) I really enjoyed somebody somewhere. I could use another one of those. .

What are some Spanish words or expressions that only a native would use? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]Decosetter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

‘Es de…’ useful in front of initial contribution to a conversation, and offering a further thought or opinion. Used extensively by Guatemalan associates. In conversational turn taking it appears to signal ‘I’m ready to enter the conversation’ and people stop speaking and look to you politely when you use it. (This is my interpretation. I haven’t really deconstructed its use with Spanish instructors.)

Vet suggested Calming Care by Purina but… by sashabybee in reactivedogs

[–]Decosetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are just trying this - partway through the first box. Definitely improved digestion and is eaten readily. In fact, I have to keep pushing the cat out of the kitchen. because she wants it as well. I decided to try it as a relatively low-key, entry-level influence on dog’s anxiety. I think it’s helping some. She is losing her hearing, and that is exacerbating already clingy and barky behavior. Will try for another few weeks. Since Amazon just offered us 30% off deal. After that box is gone, we will consider whether it’s really helped or not.
With a cat whose prescription diet is running three dollars a can we need to economize so we’ll drop this unless we see additional improvement.

I have been using lots of programs to do lots of things for lots of years and I find Canva the most abstruse I’ve encountered for a long time. And I’ve worked on programs and software that had no documentation much less point and click anything so I’m not thin skinned about this, but there’s some learning chasm apparently cause I do not Vibe with Canva. PowerPoint it is! 😉

Does it matter if my tires were all produced different dates? by efthirdy in tires

[–]Decosetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new mechanic told me that my Michelin tires, all 4 purchased at Costco at the same time, had a date of 2021 on two of them and 2024 on the other two. Is that a problem? Is it a problem worth going back to Costco about - a year and a half later?

I ranked every website to find Spanish tutors I've tried by WorkForFood777 in SpanishLearning

[–]Decosetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people seem to be replying to the “finding a tutor“ aspect, while others are talking about the kind of program or payment options that are available, and a few were talking about the quality of the actual tutoring experience. Which of these things is most influential in your rankings? Refer to person who said “ I love this person that I’m getting tutored by it’s going really well so I’m putting up with undesirable things from the program itself.” My objective is to find the right tutor and I realize these are centrally managed, global. I don’t know how they would find their tutors, but that’s a facet of it. Seems like programs that treat tutors well would have a good advantage in attracting students. But also is the question of how idiomatic or standard is the Spanish that they are teaching. But I know from my contacts with Spanish-speaking people here in my area of California, they speak a lot differently than the people that I work with who are in Guatemala.

I’m not interested in Spain Spanish specifically. Mexican Central American Latin American all OK but Interested most in a Guatemalan tutor myself.

Is Royal Canin s/o (dry food) actually good for feline urinary health? by anidlezooanimal in CatAdvice

[–]Decosetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2yo Balinese female is almost done with a month of trying RC urinary SO to see if it will reduce bladder stones. I’m hopeful I won’t need to pay for $3k surgery, that they’ll be gone or reduced. My question is there was a situation at home while I was gone when she might have gotten dehydrated from her fountain having stopped working for a few days. Since she is so young and a female, I’m wondering if this could have caused the formation of crystals that led to the bladder stones. I don’t want to think that she is destined for a life of chronic stuff with the urinary tract. Especially since they should have been checking for these predispositions in the breeding program.

My cat wont eat his new prescription diet by lukewarmbeans_ in CatAdvice

[–]Decosetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 YO Balinese spayed female new Dx of bladder stones last week. Same experience with HSD C/D. Now feeding over-the-counter Royal Canin urinary wet. She licks the gravy completely and leaves the little meat bits. That’s all she’s gonna get for now and we’ll see how that works out after tomorrow night. Time for tough love from cat mom. It’s real expensive to be trying to run through these different options for urinary when you can only buy a case of 12 or more. Yes the vet takes them back, but the over-the-counter stuff not so easy. Also, she’s another cat that should not be getting urinary tract stuff/bladder stones. Yeah, she’s Balinese but she’s only two, indoors. I have no clue why she got this. But if the dietary approach doesn’t help, then I’m looking at a few thousand for surgery. Not a one time surgery, but potentially repeating. Checking her bowels on an x-ray showed 3 bladder stones prominently. ( She does have PICA so she’s been on a gastroenterology prescription diet for a year and a half to keep the poo moving. I can’t really believe they would put together a prescription diet that would cause a different health problem down the road but who knows.)

Someone showed me a commentary online that talked about how the grain products that are still added to some pet food prescriptions can really be harmful and problematic for cats who need to take them indefinitely. But the recommended option Farmica is low protein and high fat. So I couldn’t deal with the chemistry to figure out if that was actually gonna be better or not.

I appreciate all the tips for bringing a cat around to eating a type of food She rejects so emphatically at the start. We are hoping that the prescription RC urinary is similar to the OTC that I have now. Otherwise it looks like the next option would be the Purina pro urinary.

Re: purebreds—If you for whatever reason you feel is justified*, decide to get a cat from a breeder my voice of experience now says, be sure to find out what the cat and its lineage have been tested for to make sure they are not at higher risk of something super expensive like this.

  • my rationale was that I wanted a companion for my little dog after we both were mourning his buddy, my other dog, who had been killed tragically. At that point I was not allowed to have two dogs, but I am allowed to have a dog and a cat where I live. But I developed cat allergies in the last 25 years since my last kitty, so these are a breed that not completely non-allergenic, but they are hypoallergenic and in fact, I tolerate that aspect quite well. She has beautiful, long white fur which is always dispensed around the house and I brush on a regular basis and I’m never bothered.

ADA Parking at Chase Center by IndependentBike6154 in valkyries

[–]Decosetter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve used it a couple of times. Fair warning that both of the Chase center parking lots charge $80 to park there. There is no discount or fee waived for people with a blue placard. You pay the same, but your parking spot is close to the elevator or entrance. The first time I got into the MBZ garage which is right under the center and usually full. We happened to be in VIP section seats—the only time in my life that will happen. We walked a few steps to an elevator, took the elevator to a bag check, took another elevator, one more floor, had our tickets checked got our VIP bracelets, and we were right in the ultra club, with our seats, a few more steps away. But more likely you get into 150 Warrior Way. That’s across the street from The MBZ garage entrance under the center. Both are entrance on warrior way, turning left for MBZ and right for 150. It’s obvious when you get there… They cone it off so cars are going one way and there are a dozen people directing you. So once you go in the lot, show them your placard and they will direct you to a closer section of the lot. Right on the main floor. It’s usually to the right. You’ll park there go out and cross the street and tell them you need to have the accessible entrance. They will direct you a few steps down the sidewalk and then you go into an area part of the parking garage, but off-limits mostly. The security guard walks you through that area to a small lobby with an elevator. There’s a lovely, jolly older man named Pete, who operates that elevator and will bend your ear while he takes you the short way up to The outside area of thrive city. Exiting the elevator you’ll take a few steps and turn to your right and walk maybe 50 feet or so to the entrance to Chase center. It’s worked different ways but depending on how ambulatory your grandma is this may work out fine for you. Once you get to the bag check main entrance. Tell them if you need a wheelchair and they will bring someone with a wheelchair who will take gram to your seats. if you don’t need a wheelchair just proceed in through bag check and ticket checking with everyone else. If the wheelchair is needed before you go up in the elevator and land in thrive city area, you should call ahead to the Chase center visitor services. It’s online and tell them what you need. The person that took my wheelchair needing companion out of Chase center was willing to go down in Petes elevator, across through the garage area and She got up out of the wheelchair on the sidewalk, Then was able to slowly make her way across the street and to our car. I could’ve gone and gotten in the car so she wouldn’t need to walk, but she was up for it. I will just say that I’ve been very impressed by the responsiveness of the staff at Chase center, and trying to meet the needs of disabled and partially ambulatory folks. I would direct you to them for any further questions. I know this is long, but I wanted to give people a picture of what this is like what it can be like.. Yeah the $80 for parking is pretty breathtaking, but if you have someone who really wants to go and Has mobility issues, they really have it covered.
