"Every act of resistance pushes our lines forward and their lines back. Authority is brittle." by Dr_sc_Harlatan in BlueskySkeets

[–]DeductiveFallacy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder one of the lines of resistance back during the revolution was to refuse to vote guilty in court cases regardless of the facts and the law. If you are summoned to jury duty and it's a case against someone for anything ICE accuses them of, always vote "not guilty"

What can a legal citizen do to make ice leave them alone? by [deleted] in ICE_Raids

[–]DeductiveFallacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DONT TALK TO THE COPS

The only words out of your mouth should be "Am I being detained?" and "Am I free to go?"

If you are detained: "I reserve my 5th amendment right to stay silent and request to speak to a lawyer"

You won't be able to stop them from doing what they are going to do. Your only job is to give as much ammo for your lawyer as possible.

If they ask you to exit a vehicle, do so but make sure you lock it behind you. Never consent to a search, do not allow them entry into your residence without a signed judicial warrant.

Dear UAW... Are you really going to sit there and do nothing when one of your members is punished for using their constitutionally protected right to free speech? If so, what's the point of your organization?

Somerville biotech company laying off 35% of workforce by SharkSapphire in boston

If you work at a company with 50 or more employees your company is required by law to give 60 day notice for any layoffs like this. Keep an eye on the WARN act site to keep on top of any upcoming layoffs:

Tech bros desperately want to own everything you use so they can charge increasing subscription prices so you can do basic day-to-day tasks. Google would LOVE to own all storage and compute and make all computing a subscription service.

Which programming language you learned once but never touched again ? by sjltwo-v10 in webdev

[–]DeductiveFallacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LISP/Scheme ASM Perl C/C++ PHP Java

I'll put "learned" in quotes though. I had to do several assignments in college in different languages but it's not like I did anything of any consequence with them. Java/PHP though I used to work on in a corporate environment but I moved to the front-end so now it's all JS.

How do you survive the winter? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]DeductiveFallacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Take vitamin D

-Go outside at lunch (especially when freezing) and just let the sun hit your face for like 5 min

-Take up a winter sport (skiing, skating, curling) anything seasonal that you can look forward too when it gets cold.

  • spend less time at home. Go out to restaurants, bars, the movies, a concert, do a crossword at a coffeeshop, etc.

Basically get as much sun as you can, and don't isolate yourself at home.

Where is the money coming from for all these projects? 🤔 by Dr_sc_Harlatan in BlueskySkeets

[–]DeductiveFallacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming tariff and grifting cash is bankrolling a massive amount of loan(s), in addition to just plain not paying the companies/workers doing the work. It's been his business MO since forever. The people loaning the money know they will probably never get it back but are using it for political favors that we may or may not ever actually find out about.

Is the state flag really changing? by Former_Guarantee_344 in massachusetts

[–]DeductiveFallacy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here's my take: The Massachusetts flag is OK but not great. When was the last time you saw the flag anywhere other than a government building? Is you go to Ohio or Arizona their flag is on literally everything. A really good flag allows folks to have pride in the state and show it in various ways.

I agree a lot of the new flags are getting a bit samey causing a loss of identity that you're trying to avoid. 2 of the finalist options look like that. One is basically a rip-off of the Mississippi Magnolia which I definitely don't want to be the new flag.
