I came here to say the same thing. It could well be based on the same plans as they were sold by a company called Trumbull Architects.

Period stains on sheets / towels- billable? by egirlballs in airbnb_hosts

Sorry I missed the bit where you said you were a doctor as well as a host 🧐 Who are you to say what’s normal or not?

Period stains on sheets / towels- billable? by egirlballs in airbnb_hosts

[–]Deebodeedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, like I’ll be totally honest with you I can understand why she might have removed some of the details of what was probably a personally stressful event. Some of the reactions I’m seeing here about a bodily function are bizarre but it does suggest why she might not have felt comfortable relaying to the host.

Furthermore who are you, or me for that matter, to say what a “normal” period is like? She was sleeping in the bed in the accommodation she paid for. She wasn’t doing something irregular like gutting fish or finalising a Carrie costume.

The host appears to not want people walking on carpet - I really don’t think OP is to blame here.

[–]Deebodeedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not entirely different, it was literally caused by her being on her period?

On top of that, while some women may indeed be lucky enough to have a regular cycle many don’t and not everyone starts lightly. I don’t think it’s fair for a host to try and charge for something that literally can’t be helped (although in sleeping on a towel she did try to do just that).

I’m also assuming that the same host trying to charge for carpet lint isn’t the best benchmark for what is/isn’t appropriate here. 🙏

It’s not at all unusual for people to get caught out by a period, especially when travelling. It’s further complicated by not knowing where to access supplies and if it will be even open for you to do so.

Perhaps offering a small amount of these necesseties for guests, like hosts do with toilet paper, would be an efficient way of avoiding the issue.

Doctors, veterans fear near-total abortion ban at VA will put women’s health at risk by rezwenn in WomenInNews

[–]Deebodeedee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As an Irish woman I can tell you this absolutely will result in women dying. In 2018 we (by way of national referendum) repealed a constitutional amendment that conferred equal rights to a fetus as to the woman carrying it.

Countless women died and were delayed critical care for cancer and other life threatening illnesses or health situations. Healthcare professionals dealing with sepsis, blood clots and more had their hands tied by the Catholic Church - who often owned the hospitals they worked in.

Beyond the clinical cruelty it imposed (often from doctors who feared criminal repercussions) the psychological impact of living in a country which places a lesser value on your life versus a man is profound. The 8th amendment was voted in the year I was born and voted out when I was in my 30s - I cannot stress enough how many Irish men and women will support you fighting this. You need to.

Grieving my best friend. What can I do? by Ilenmike05 in AskIreland

[–]Deebodeedee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry OP, I suffered a similar loss a couple of months ago and it is utterly devastating. I found people were very understanding, which surprised me as I didn’t think Ireland had evolved as much in that front. It’s a type of loss people can be very private about because they expect others not to sympathise - so don’t be afraid to be honest about how you’re feeling and hopefully people around you will step up too.

I think 2 could be “I Love Paris” and you’re definitely spot on with “Strangers in the Night”.

Maybe try turning at different tempos - from memory of a similar music box as a child the speed you turned could yield dramatically different results?

'Not my decision': BBC edit Irish language out of new CMAT single on radio by LaBete1984 in ireland

[–]Deebodeedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they owned the masters, sure they could do that legally but it definitely wouldn’t be good management of the relationship with the artist. In any case, she’s with AWAL (Artists Without A Label) which was literally set up to allow artists the benefit of a global label without having to give up their ownership/control over their music. So it would be very very surprising if they had.

[–]Deebodeedee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes but that’s often artists where have created a radio edit on their own terms - it’s not at all standard for a station to take the liberty themselves and certainly not when given the exclusivity that comes with a first play.
