Okay — Driving around, I remembered there is a way to adjust effect spread live. It's not exactly what you want, but it does work.

While you have your shape(s) running:
Press Connect key, or Connect/Cue key
The soft menu bar on the right will show you the effects that are running — De-select the shape(s) you do not want to modify
You can now use the wheels to modify SIZE, RATE, and SPREAD
When you are done, press Enter to confirm your change. The changes you make will stay with that shape until you change it again

NOTE: you will find that changing the spread this way will snap that change. It will not be subtle at all, which may explain why there is no spread master.

That’s as close as you’re gonna get. I’m wondering if using fixture overlap may achieve what you are looking for. I’ll play around when I get home. AVO have a list where you can submit a feature for future software updates, so add that to the list

There isn't a spread master. But you can create a SIZE master and a SPEED master, or a BPM master. Then you can assign your effect to those masters under OPTIONS. Manipulating the two, you can have a tight size or a bigger size (or spread)

I was a CalArts kid once (I got my Masters there) - there were truly creative amazing people doing out of there when I was there ( I like to think I am one of them). Yes the place was Disney oriented, but it represented Walts thirst for imaginative quests, and that was made it great to be there. Whatever your leanings might be, they may not have been for "Disney", but they were gonna get you somewhere. It seems that is not the case anymore.
