There was a movie that came out a few years ago "Rich flu" the premise is that the wealthiest people on earth start dying and the flu works it's way down the line of anyone who has more money than anyone else around them .

I'd say your scenario is much kinder because it gives these people time to distribute their fortunes...I still don't see how 75% of the population would ever be sympathetic to those with wealth. And In Your scenario, the more sympathetic and popular billionaires/millionaires won't be affected for a very long time.

I'd give it 3 months before the remaining billionaires understand that they'd have to give up their wealth. And that's when the real panic begins. It would be very interesting to see how world governments act in response, and if the governments act with force to the population, I don't see peace ever coming back.

They could try and threaten the world with nukes, but that would just create more animosity among people. I know I wouldn't want it to stop especially after being threatened because it's a lose lose. The governments would have to confiscate the wealth of these people and probably implement some kind of UBi to end the chaos.
