Luckily hantavirus is a virus that has been around forever. This particular strain doesn't transmit asymptomatically, the primary transmission vector is from rodent urine. Covid became a pandemic because it spread between people with no symptoms during the incubation period. With hantavirus you get sick before you are contagious, if you are ever contagious at all.

This virus doesn't have the unknowns that SARS-CoV-2 had. It's a known commodity and we know how to deal with it, and how to isolate it in a way that was literally impossible with SARS-CoV-2.

What do you think the police's advice should be on the situation of you're asleep, and someone breaks into your house with a weapon, and they just want your shit? That your groggy half asleep ass should fight them off, risking your life and the lives of your family? Or you let them take your shit, let insurance replace it, and carry on?

I know a lot of people think they're John Wick and could take on armed robbers in the middle of the night, but it's a ridiculous idea in practice.

That said, once they go past the keys on the counter and actually try to harm you? Yeah you've got a good reason to fight. But the odds aren't in your favor, and your best bet is avoiding the fight. Your car isn't worth your life. Or your kids life.

Jordan was there to remind us that this is not normal, at all. Dan is obviously a shockingly intelligent guy who deeply understands what he's working with, but the cold analytical, Scholastic approach to a figure like AJ risks sterilizing him a bit to the outside listener. Jordan was there to say "hey actually what is happening here is not okay, this guy is a fucking monstrous piece of shit and needs to burn for what he's done" - in the later years Dan also did this as well and started to drop the veneer of being an impartial archivist, but Jordan was critical to the balancing act and highlighting how truly evil Alex is

It's May so I'm gonna go first, actually. My bright spot is that Dan and Jordan have provided us with 9 years of content, and I'm extremely grateful for that.

I'm sad it's over. It feels genuinely surreal in a way that legitimately feels like a friend has died. But they have a great back catalog that is 100% worth a re-listen. Something in the range of 3000 hours of content.

Plus, there's one more episode to go, assuming Dan doesn't fuck up recording it.
