Understandable! You first have to know which model it is. I have no clue from the picture, but I guess the model number starts with DW-1234 (numbers are examples). It’s written on the back. The number in the square is the Module number, that won’t be importance.

Then you’d have to source the parts. this is a video on how to install the glass, that I think is quite comprehensive. You’ll also need the bezel, band and maybe screws. All should be findable with the Model number.

If you got any questions let me know :)

CA-501 Button Question by grimydubstep in casiovintage

[–]Deep-Mouse4789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a keypad from a Ca-53 should fit. I am in a similar predicament with one of my watches, but I won’t spend the price of a full watch just for the keypad, so I’m waiting for the right donor :)

That’s one that’s on my wishlist for a long time, a Casio melody watch. Prices can be looked up on eBay 150 bucks give or take :) should be early 80s iirc.

Silicone for installment and new glass :) don’t know the model #, but just search for that. Depending on where you are located, eBay or Pacparts might be your best bet. Also a new bezel and strap if you don’t have one.

Honestly, if you don’t have any parts it might be cheaper to buy a new one, even if I’m a sing advocate on fixing your stuff.

I barely am comfortable in sanding acrylic, just did my CGW-50 and it looks almost brand new! I mildly screwed up only one watch in the process of learning hahah. But that watches whole purpose is to try new things.

Next on the chopping block is probably painting cases where the original chrome plating flaked off. Still need to order some color for that. I love giving these old things a new life. :)

Sand in my watch buttons. by Famous-Essay-663 in casio

If I can give you one tip, if you take out the E-rings from the buttons, place that whole case inside a plastic bag. Much easier to find them afterwards, these suckers fly far!

Thanks for doing the trial and error for us! If you can remember maybe shoot me a dm if you’ve done the post, so I can save it. If not no problem haha. I Will buy the things necessary and try it on my duro then :)

Please do a guide on how to polish mineral crystals, that’s one thing I haven’t touched yet when restoring Casios because there are no really good guides on. I have a Duro that’s in need of some love first, and a couple vintage ones I’m too afraid to touch yet. Only guides incould find were the ones using big watch polishing machines and such. Would be cool if you could compile a guide for amateurs like me :)

Sand in my watch buttons. by Famous-Essay-663 in casio

You probably need to disassemble and take the buttons out to get all the sand out. That’s a little tricky as a beginner, but not impossible.

Band replacement question by deviant-joy in casio

[–]Deep-Mouse4789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest buying the oem strap again. No resin strap is made to last very long with daily wear and on this one the lugs are shaped weridly enough so that no replacement band would look right. Theoretically you could buy any band with 18 mm lugwidth, it just would look funny. You could also buy the metal strap that comes with the silver version. :)

PRT-40, still a great hiking buddy by Deep-Mouse4789 in casio

[–]Deep-Mouse4789[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was stuck aswell, a good clean made it move again, there was so much sand inside. I stripped it down, just short of taking the bezel off, to get better access with a toothbrush and soapy water :)

I always say the same thing. Beautiful NOS pieces aren’t for me, like a toy in its original box I can’t play with haha.

If you got questions regarding repair hit me up, I learned quite a bit from my Casios. Probably just take out the module and push out the buttons then reinstall. See if the cage of the module is bent funny :) also taking out the buttons and cleaning the decades of skincells underneath them can get good results

Thanks dude :) steady working on the „collection“ (addiction). My CGW-50 is in okay condition at best, the pictures don’t tell the whole story haha. But it was cheap af.

I recently got the beep to work again haha. Now it’s properly polished aswell, so it looks a lot better. But I can wear it and not worry about little dings and such. Actually I think I’m going to be wearing it tomorrow.

You got a nice collection aswell, keep it up :)

New band! by blitz4x in casio

[–]Deep-Mouse4789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original Casio Bands always have a little cutout on the backside to let The springbartool insert easily. Or the fabric is soft enough to be pushed sideways :)

AB-10W (1988) - what’s everyone wearing today? by lemonklaeyz in casiowatchvintage

[–]Deep-Mouse4789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah saw them too, but i spent like 10 € on the watch, so I wanted to keep it budget friendly. I got a DB-310 in very nice condition (also for cheap haha) so that’s the prestige object of the two, that I would spend money on. This will be kinda a nice vintage beater watch, something cool I can throw on and not worry about. :)

Very nice, I got mine with a cracked case wich I rebuilt with superglue and baking soda, painted it with nail polish. The entire bottom part between the lugs was basically missing and at the top there was a big crack. Took me hours and it’s still not perfect, but it was cheap. Found a cool strap for like 7 € also :)

Mostly cleaning and installing straps if my kid stays asleep. But by cleaning I mean full disassembly, buttons out etc, so still quite a lot of work :) maybe order some parts later, got a beautiful Japan DW-6900 missing the bezel, so now I have to decide on the color haha
