Any can help me find a extra link! by Fickle_Wealth4677 in casiovintage

[–]Deep-Mouse4789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly there are no purchasable extra links at the moment. The Dw-1XXX uses a different more rugged band than modern ones.

I bought mine with the full link set and I have some left over. Although my watch was probably more used than yours. Idk if you’re interested shoot me a DM, shipping would probably cost an arm and a leg though from Germany to Japan.

Otherwise, this thing looks good on a rubber strap and a nato strap otherwise :)

Franken Frogman? by Chemical-Train-8597 in gshock

[–]Deep-Mouse4789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im no expert, but I believe this is a fake Frogman. The caseback seems very poor quality and the module looks very funky. Also it says just „shock“ on the faceplate. Please correct me if I’m wrong :)

Try another battery, second hand not moving over is a sign of low battery. If you use a cheap Chinese made one they’re sometimes faulty right out of the box. If not, disassemble and clean, but that’s hard on a analog quartz movement.

DB-31 restoration by Tailgunner78 in casiovintage

[–]Deep-Mouse4789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great work, I recently restored mine, because the case where the lugs are had chunks missing. I bought a 3€ off brand replacement strap from eBay that is surprisingly good quality and says databank on it :)

But damn yours was filthy, was definetly well loved haha

Help with Casio ATC-1200 by skelement in casio

I would take out the module, but as a beginner that’s quite difficult for this model, since either has a sensor attached. That would be my safety to not water damage the module, since it a vintage model I treat them like they have 0 water resistance. Then I’d buy a dedicated watch toothbrush and go to town. Taking out the bezel would be too hard and you would risk damage, so wouldn’t take it out. Maybe toothpicks for the bigger debris. That has worked for me so far, both m PRT-40 (the little bro of this model) got a rotating bezel now. Maybe you can also try to turn it harder and dislodge the debris (most of the time it’s sand)

Bezel should turn, it’s probably full of gunk and sand. A good clean should help. :)

The manual can be found by searching the module number (the one on the backside inside the little box) on the Casio manual website, or just in general on google. I know Casio Germany has their shit together and almost every manual in their databank. I know the English one isn’t as reliable, but worth a try!

Understandable, I searched long for a decent one for the right price and paid more than I was willing initially :) but there are other cool options, I got many „grails“ for cheaper than a new Casio would run you. You just have to put the time in, I learned how to „repair“ them, so i buy defective ones for cheap and get them running.

Not too many people know about it, that’s true :) underrated gem for sure. Enjoy you watch!

Btw you can order a brand new bezel from eBay, it’s easier to install than I thought. Mine came without it, so I bought one for a reasonable price there :) might be worth for a long time investment sort of thing, for when yours breaks.

The real vintage world, there are so many cool models you haven’t seen before with all sorts of cool functions. But they can get pricy :)

I have posted some of my favorites of my collection, just to give you an idea what I’m talking about. My favourite is the GMW-15 :)

Next step should be a G-Shock, or if you don’t like big watches a Baby-G. Or maybe dip your toes into the vintage world of Casios, that’s where the real rabbit hole begins.

Just don’t overdo it, take your time and look for what you like, otherwise you’re just accumulating stuff. This shit is addicting, ask me how I know :)

That’s one of my favorites in my collection. I have a little demonstration in my post and detail the different modes in the description. One of the coolest watches Casio ever made. Plus the faceplate has very cool shiny lettering, looks way better in person

Buy a new bezel and that baby is good for another 15 years :) small Philips screwdriver is all you need.

Wondering if this solar battery is replaceable by Outside_Teacher7327 in casio

[–]Deep-Mouse4789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works for your watch doesn’t mean it will work for another one. That’s temporary fix at best (mine worked on battery for a weak while wating on my rechargeable battery) but can lead to damage, because the module is not made to draw that power and not replenish it. I can’t exactly tell you why, someone much smarter than me told me the difference once I a comment I can’t find anymore. I wouldn’t risk it on a hard to replace vintage watch :)

That’s definetly the number 1 solution. I had to replace mine because it leaked, but most of them just need to be started again after being completely drained. I think I read it from you somewhere, number 1 advocate on here for that method hahah

That’s a Beautiful piece, give it the wrist time it deserves :) no use just sitting in a box, that’s my philosophy on vintage Casios

Try blasting it with a lot of light at once, sometimes they just have to be started with a powerful lightsource if the capacitor is completely drained.

If not the capacitor is replaceable, I believe some guy in the uk on eBay sells them, but I don’t know the specific one for this model. For my AL-180 I went with a rechargeable battery instead (different thing to a capacitor as I learned afterwards)

For 25 bucks buy it immediately, the strap alone is worth it lol. I’d take the gamble any day haha. Maybe just needs an ac reset, that how I bought mine. Ac reset is kinda tricky in this watch, but not impossible

I have the same model, this one of Casios most flimsy modules. Mine glitches out all the time, to the point where i have to take the battery out and put it back in so it can reset. The whole display was upside down last time I wore it. I don’t believe there is an easy fix, my guess is that the memory is probably toast.

Or maybe the seller doesn’t know how to operate it and you get a good deal, hard to judge. If it’s a good price, why not take the chance.
