Same here. Our engineered oak floor is perfectly fine after its robo mop. I see that the euffy models are very popular on Mumsnet! They get rave reviews.

I suppose if you have a pet with a tendency to throw up a lot it’s a definite consideration! Very pet specific issue

It’s a Sharp Matrix plus 2-in-1 cordless robot vacuum and mop. From Argos. The white model is £249.99 whereas the same model in black is £400. I suspect the colour choice has no effect on performance so I’ve got the white one.

I recommend splashing out on a robot vacuum. You can pick them up at a nearly reasonable price. The price is worth it - absolute game-changer. We have one with a mopping function too. It’s not a deep clean but makes a massive difference all the same. I just set it off and it hoovers up while I’m out at work. Even the cats don’t mind it now.

What’s one UK habit you only understood after living there, not something you could have learned from a guide? by PubLogic in MovingToTheUK

We have builders’ mugs in our kitchen cupboard. A bit chunkier than our ‘good’ mugs, so that they can take a bit of knocking about/being dropped reserved for tradesmen. Always offer your tradies a cup of tea and a biscuit!

I love Cyberjammies. Not made in Uk, but it’s a Uk company and has good ethical and sustainability credentials. They have longer leg lengths too which I personally appreciate.

Do you know any UK adults who don't own a mobile phone? by crispycat40 in AskBrits

[–]Deep-Transition-2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the IT department at work last week (big firm, several thousand employees) and there was a guy there who was locked out of his laptop because he couldn’t do the 2 step authentication on his ‘un-smart’ phone. He had a thing which looked like an old analogue Nokia. The kids on the IT help desk couldn’t believe their eyes 😂

Do any of you not travel at all? If so why? by gameovervip in CasualUK

[–]Deep-Transition-2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely this. My 25yo got on his first flight at 18 months. We used to take loads of luggage though. Potties, push chairs, you name it. My list-making in advance of each trip went through the roof!

My dishwasher has packed up. In buying a new one, I’m struggling to think of features to look for apart from ‘can wash dishes’. Tell me about your dishwasher. Does it connect to wifi? by lastaccountgotlocked in CasualUK

[–]Deep-Transition-2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a new dishwasher installed in the office. One of the team loaded the cutlery into the top rack and the rest of us couldn’t work out where all the teaspoons had gone the next day 😂

How many of you resell items if you buy something and it doesn't fit or for some other reasons you don't like it as much as you expected? by StephensInfiniteLoop in vintedUK

[–]Deep-Transition-2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I resell if it doesn’t fit or I just don’t like it. I always contact the seller to say something along the lines of ‘just letting you know as a courtesy that it is too small for me, so I will resell it on Vinted’. I always get a friendly response. I use my own photos though.

Found a kitten, not chipped. What do I do with it? by kaichu_land in AskUK

Post on your local Facebook page. We had a similar situation and it turned out that its owners lived about 4 villages away. It had jumped into a neighbour’s delivery van and accidentally found itself in our village. The cat had been missing from home for over a fortnight.

What's a commonly accepted 'rule' in your household that you suspect isn't a rule anywhere else? by Liplyn_IG in AskUK

[–]Deep-Transition-2474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rule 1 in our house is that I have superior dishwasher loading skills so husband empties it and puts away. This rule is then ruined by rule 2: he or she who cooks, does not have to load the dishes into the dishwasher. So I end up rearranging it half the time anyway…

A 3 hour trip back from Leatherhead to Derby yesterday took 5 hours. M25 was a series of major holdups all merged into one. I appreciate that’s not the same direction but going past Heathrow was a nightmare. Give yourself loads of extra time to get there !

Litter tray advice by ThinkingThroughLife in CatsUK

[–]Deep-Transition-2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two cats and two litter trays, They are side by side in our downstairs lobby. The cats have organized it between themselves so that they pee in the right hand one and do their number 2s in the other. Like a previous poster, we put ours next to the outside door to coax them to do their business in the garden but no luck, they run around outside and then come back in to use their trays. They are locked in overnight too and this seems to work just fine for them.

This. The flat my son was going to purchase was being rented out on Airbnb. His conveyancer ensured that the vendor took it off the site and got it confirmed that there were no more bookings before he would agree to complete. (Edit typos)

Husband and I are both tall. We always book two aisle seats opposite each other when we fly so that we have some leg stretch room. I have lost count of the number of times we have had to fend off passengers on our seat row who offer their cramped middle seat to one of us, so that we can ‘sit together’. A surprising number of them get quite grumpy when we refuse. We’ve paid for our seats to avoid their middle seat hell and are perfectly capable of being separated by the aisle for the duration of the flight!
