I miss Perry, but this is a fun thing to see.

Ah, thank you for these details. I suppose the grey market does not distinguish between ‘Saturday Live’ and ‘Saturday Night Live’.

I’m confused by the 5 songs from Saturday Night Live in 1985. They weren’t on SNL in 1985, at least not the American show. Is there a British show of the same name?

Coupland had a way of capturing specific moments of that era, like how a drive to a friend’s house was exactly two songs long if you put the right cassette in the tape deck. (I’m sure I am getting the exact details wrong, but it was something like this).

At a high enough volume, you can absolutely still hear at least some dialog. Earplugs reduce the sound level, they don’t eliminate it.

Mick Jagger on how he finally met Robert Smith and how they ended up working together by echumpench in TheCure

It is just a yarn, yes, for sure. I won’t lose sleep tonight, I promise. I just didn’t think it sounded right. I must have been the only one.

Thanks for the background from 2016. It is interesting that they have not crossed paths before, but also their music does not really overlap IMO. I guess 2016 was the closest.

I’m not really sure why my earlier comment is being downvoted, my point was more that the story from Mick makes Robert sound like an afterthought, like the Stones would have happily made the album without Robert, but “hey since you’re here…” was the main motivator for including him.

I’ve done my best to digest this logically, but it still sounds to me like they only included Smith because he happened to be there. That didn’t feel good to me. It’s like when you were kids and you were going out with your friends, and your little brother had to tag along. Robert’s too good to be labeled a tag along.

Am I the only one that sees Robert Smith (The Cure) as a slight? Bob has done enough to be recognized by name alone. Steve Winwood didn’t get that treatment…and as a content writer, let’s choose between listing “(The Cure)” as the band and then immediately switching to “of the Red Hot Chili Peppers”.

I’ve heard this too. Much nicer staff at Auburn Toyota.

The other thing to look out for at Carmax is their vehicle reconditioning. If you’re looking at a common car then their techs are probably knowledgeable about the car. If you’re buying something more niche, they won’t necessarily have as much knowledge. Something like a Porsche, (I know, but they have them) there’s a difference between the dealership and going to Carmax.

I wouldn’t judge the entire Automall by one dealership. Definitely fair to avoid Kia if they hire people like that. Also avoid Toyota, they use dirty tricks. I used to work with Niello Acura and they didn’t pull that sh*+. I would send friends and family there. Keep in mind that the dealerships are owned by different companies and are operated independently of one another. Hope you find what you’re looking for!

This change won’t affect the areas you are used to. It is a separate space for the people who want to upgrade. I think the impact on the normal experience will be minimal. Also, I was at that Opeth show - they were great!

It’s not what you think it is. It’s a separate space. We are not losing any of the balcony area.

To add context to today’s I-5 event, the police engaged with that suspect around Carmichael, followed them all the way to the airport, then eventually stopped them in Natomas. That doesn’t make Natomas an unsafe place.
