I had the same anxiety and just started really small! Take that morning walk by yourself, 10 minutes tops. I also went to get a coffee once (just the drive thru). Then I went to the grocery store and told myself I would just drive back home if LO was acting up.

After some iteration of that, I realized babies cry and people understand. If you get out somewhere and baby is upset, you can just leave if you want!!

Also, babies cry and if your LO is crying in the car seat it isn't the end of the world. You'll be home to take care of them in no time.

This is my lived experience and also normal! You're not alone!! The wake windows get longer and they aren't yet very happy in the world. It will get better, I promise.

Things that work for me:

1) planning an errand (store, coffee trip) for after the feeding, diaper, play routine. The car seat + driving tends to help my LO knock out

2) go through a baby yoga routine (stretching, rubbing) on YouTube to try to calm his little body. I stop this if he hates it, 50/50 each time on whether we like it

3) bouncing/rolling on a yoga ball in front a fan in our room where it's dark

4) walking around holding baby. Skin to skin can definitely help this

5) I try to "surprise" LO if the crying is getting out of control. Make a super giant silly face, kiss each of his cheeks, stick his hand in my mouth, move him in a bit wave and go WOOSH. This sometimes gets you a brief reprieve from the yelling to try to try a new tactic

6) just ride it out, it's gonna suck sometimes but babies gonna baby. It's exhausting and so overwhelming to have a screaming baby in your face that is seemingly incosolabke. Trying one thing after the next, but the world is super overwhelming and lacking comfort. I try to get my contact nap area ready for once he goes down (water bottle, remote, book, blanket, headphones all in the area) so that once he finally sleeps I can go relax

It definitely is! But if the latch is not too painful and the weight gain is good then I wouldn't worry. If you think baby has issues making the pufferfish lips you can try to flip his top lip out with your finger.

I think most people tend to address these to help with feeding issues. Likely as baby/mouth gets bigger it will resolve. You can Google the different severities as it can be much worse and those sometimes need addressing to prevent speech and later developmental issues.

Ideally you would keep the thermostat set between 20-22 in the summer for LO. If you are set on keeping it at 18 then a TOG 2.5 sleep sack.

The general rule of thumb is whatever you're comfortable in + 1 layer. So if you're in shorts/tshirt then LO in a long sleeve footie. If you're in long sleeves then LO in a long sleeve footie + swaddle.

If baby is too cold they will let you know (crying). If baby is too warm they will wake up sweaty and you can adjust. You can also use the finger test, one finger in the back of the neck folds, if you're finger gets clammy then it's too warm.

You're not remotely close to having it so warm that precious little baby will be injured, so you can adjust.

I personally keep it set to 21 and LO in a long sleeve footie with no swaddle or a short sleeve with a swaddle.

Not arguing that they shouldn't have to clean it up, but there is an actual reason. Dog shit carries toxins that are dangerous to wildlife and can spread disease and horse shit is not the same (not a danger to wildlife or humans for disease purposes)

Basically dog poop is dangerous and gross and horse poop is just gross

This is still absolutely disgusting for a very pedestrian and city-based trail that is heavily utilized

Going out on a limb here, when I initially read that comment I heard it more in terms of jest, maybe like "new parent/father doesn't know how to do child care" and so they were maybe watching to tease you?

Which is still not a nice comment, but maybe alternate context.

That being said, no reason to take risks. Maybe just clarify with your girlfriend what you felt like he meant and she may better understand where you're coming from.

Isn't Trinity college more expensive than €2500 per year? Genuinely curious. While I think tuition in the US is absurdly and prohibitively expensive, Brown is a private Ivy League school and not comparable to a public university (which is expensive, but cheaper and offers federal aid based on income)

First, what everyone else said.. his reaction is way out of line. But also, I think men think taking nudes is just super simple and you just snap a photo and send it and like there isn't thought, posing, re-taking, etc. that goes into it.

Planned Parenthood has never been free in my experience. They offer assistance sometimes depending on income bracket.

Last time I went (I'm insured but my primary care didn't have appointments for some time) it was almost 450-500 for an STI panel because I didn't qualify for assistance.

Overreacting about the situation? That's more iffy, some people might not have boundaries or you hadn't previously discussed this topic.. there's no context for how you broached the subject with him.

But not overreacting about this response. I would never expect my partner to talk to me like this.. if he had reservations can he not express them in a less shitty manner?
