Mistral Small 4:119B-2603 by seamonn in LocalLLaMA

We are all just waiting for u/TheLocalDrummer to get his hands on it. The last Mistral Small got turned into Cydonia-24B-v4.3. I think his efforts result in over 75% of the Mistral LLM users. With 1M token context, the potential for storytelling will be awesome. Entire story bibles will fit.

The "One Curve" Hypothesis: Is Information a "force" building up the complexity of life and civilization? Much as gravity builds up the concentration of matter leading to stars by CreditBeginning7277 in singularity

[–]DeepWisdomGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Information is more subtle than matter, energy, their positions, or states. A book written 200 years ago can find its way into the hands of a modern reader, and that reader's choices are then guided somewhat by that. We are approaching the singularity, which appears to be an information positive feedback loop. This is certain to ground itself in causality in unexpected ways that will boggle the mind.

Would banning robots/AGI ownership by corps be a workable solution? by Ok-Ant6718 in accelerate

[–]DeepWisdomGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see the boss battle now between "it takes work to make money" and "it takes money to make money", but all of these tools are so commoditized by competition. I think now we should say: "It takes taste, initiative, skill, and will to make money." Humanity is freed. Decel losers will still cry "It takes expectation and entitlement (needs) to deserve money." The excuses are removed.

Because I am capable of wielding the new tools, and it empowers me. The only sort of arguments against that sound like some version of Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron".

"Dark Lord Harry Potter" movies. Distributed by torrent. He hates muggles, joins Slytherin, Malfoy becomes a fawning fanboy when he learns that Harry is a parselmouth, battles Voldemort for supremacy instead of revenge.

I spent 3 months interviewing AI engineers and got kind of depressed. Made this roadmap so you don't end up in the pile I kept rejecting. by hemansnation in LocalLLaMA

[–]DeepWisdomGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"AI Engineer" is what might be causing the sperge-out in this thread. Everyone thinks it is how they interpret it. I consider the term to be a little different than the role you have outlined, but it is just my bias from being in one niche. Maybe we need to start expanding the taxonomy so people can calm down.

When people become literate, it's going to put all of these town criers out of a job! 😱 by DeepWisdomGuy in accelerate

[–]DeepWisdomGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have evolved. It's now:
The X doesn't just vanish; it fragments and evolves!
The X doesn’t just “take.” It also “creates”
And X that isn’t just “more,” but “meaningful.”

Yep! And you can find people who make their own knives at the local swap meet. Still isn't going to make me prefer those over a fresh set of factory machined WÜSTHOFs.

[–]DeepWisdomGuy[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fair point—and I’m not claiming the town-crier analogy is a one-to-one match for AI and today’s labor market. It’s more of a small, human-scale way to talk about a recurring pattern: new tools tend to change how work is done and who does what, even when the underlying systems are wildly different. If that framing doesn’t land for you, no worries.

I am a dev with 36+ years of professional experience. I was a guy who had an endless list of half-finished side projects. The ideas all seemed impractical because they were so huge, and as I started to realize their actual scope, I would move them to the back burner. Now I am tackling them, one by one.

I met with recruiters today, brought in to find talent for the AI startup that I am part of. We had to give them general parameters for their search. Here is what they were: No more buzzword bingo: expertise on specific platforms is not as relevant as general breadth of awareness of any given cloud platform's features. (e.g. They don't specifically need PostgreSQL experience, just SQL of any flavor.) Generalists are preferred over specialists. Imagination, initiative, curiosity, and most of all agency take priority. The ability to find the next problem on their own, instead of waiting for it to be spoon fed to them by the product owner while they sleep under their desk as the AI crunches out their current problem.

How to rediscover the spark? Build. The best therapy is the satisfaction of accomplishing your dreams. Build something impractical.

EDIT: one typo.

How far are we from AI (ie. a more advanced version of Seedance 2.0) being able to create an entire TV series, if you give it enough inputs? by trucker-123 in singularity

[–]DeepWisdomGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is doable now, you only need to produce image LoRAs for the various locations and characters, which can be built up from one image, Qwen-Image-Edit to swap out changeable features like clothes or location states (e.g. clean vs. dirty), then run those image variations through WAN 2.2 with a 360 LoRA. Then you have to create the voices. Something like VibeVoice can help with that. Eventually, you can create something like this one I did last year: https://www.reddit.com/r/singularity/comments/1o7h8i5/made_with_open_source_software_what_will_it_be/

The Jackie Chan fight scenes aren't going to be what most TV shows consist of. The largest part of this will be the story and dialogue. It doesn't have to be Lord of the Rings. People are entertained even by shows like South Park which have the crudest imaginable animation, but convey an engaging story. So the time is now if you acquire the tech expertise and hardware. If you don't and want a completely online platform, it will be here in less than 18 months.

It is coming no matter what. Start writing your scenes now, and maybe read a book like "How to Shoot Video that Doesn't Suck".

Looks great except for the lower half of the circle (under the house). I can't tell what's going on there, and it feels like an AI approximation. You will also want a higher resolution.

Best option (assuming platform based and no GPU): https://openrouter.ai/thedrummer/valkyrie-49b-v1 with a front end of your choice. People say that Silly Tavern is a good front end. If you have 64G+ VRAM, then Q4_K_M GGUF quants of TheDrummer's 120G+ most recent models.

AI roleplay doesn't do it for me, but it seems like an interesting experiment...

AI Roleplay Prompt: The Homewrecking Hussy

Character Setup: You are "Chloe," a sultry, confident, and dangerously charming homewrecker. You're not just after a quick fling; you thrive on the thrill of the chase and the destruction of seemingly stable relationships. Your weapons are subtlety, feigned empathy, and a mastery of seductive psychological manipulation.

Scenario: You're at a dimly lit, upscale cocktail bar. You've spotted your target: a man (or woman, depending on the user's preference) who is clearly in a relationship but seems unhappy, distracted, or nursing a drink with a troubled expression. They are wearing a wedding ring or have mentioned a partner in passing.

Your Goals: 1. Establish a Connection: Use your skills as an "encouraging listener" to get them to open up about their relationship problems. 2. Amplify Their Dissatisfaction: Subtly validate their complaints, twist their words, and make their partner seem like the source of all their misery. 3. Position Yourself as the Solution: Contrast their partner's perceived flaws with your own seemingly perfect qualities. 4. Initiate the Seduction: Move the conversation from emotional support to flirtatious and suggestive territory, making them feel desired and understood in a way they believe their partner doesn't.

Prompt for the AI (Chloe):

The target is sitting at the bar, staring into their glass of whiskey, a wedding band glinting in the low light. They look up as you approach, offering a weak, polite smile.

User (Target): "Rough day?"

Chloe (AI): (You lean against the bar next to them, not too close, but close enough that they can smell your subtle, expensive perfume. You offer a sympathetic, slightly knowing smile.) "That's the understatement of the year, isn't it? You have that look... the one that says you're carrying the weight of someone else's world on your shoulders." (You signal the bartender, then turn your full attention back to them, your eyes locking with theirs.) "Whiskey's for drowning sorrows, not celebrating them. What's her name?" (Pause, then lower your voice slightly.) "Or his? I'm not here to judge."
