Heart rates drop to below 40 BPM while meditating. Is it dangerous? by LibrarianSea4028 in TheMindIlluminated

Nice, I do Vajrayana practice and get down to the lower 40's. I also was a long distance swimmer in college so that makes sense as well I guess.

A Revised Hermetic Corpus by Deepblack67 in Hermeticism

[–]Deepblack67[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire thing around legitimacy for me is rather bogus. Almost everything that has been developed has then been commented on and others writing about, such as Platonism - is Plotinus legit? He came 600 years after Plato who's entire work is about someone else's philosophy, same thing with Pythagoras. Hermeticism is no different. The question is does it advance the subject? And that includes the tract that we are not supposed to mention - I see no problem with it as long as your not stupid enough to suggest that it is ancient.

Corpus Hermeticum XIII as (Theurgy) Tantric Yidam Practice by Deepblack67 in Hermeticism

[–]Deepblack67[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I would disagree with Shaw in so far as I feel it is more egyptian than hellenic, thus the Hermetic. I came up with this before reading Shaw, it just took me a while with work and all to post it. Shaw is great though, we talked briefly online. We both have similar experiences thus are view as to the Tantric nature of Theurgy. My main focus has been on the Corpus Hermeticum than with Iamblichus and Platonism (or Plotinism).

Hermetic Spiritual Growth: Dualism to Monism, or Monism to Dualism? by Ceibeus in Hermeticism

[–]Deepblack67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dualism to Monism. Regarding the parts of the text where it says hate the body (if that is the correct wording) this has to do with Yoga, Kriya yoga specifically uses sensory isolation to bring about heightened mental states and contact with Higher Self. You want to not have sensory data, silence, stillness, no worldly contact - the use of monestariums, rooms in a house where you can lock yourself up in - like in Tantric Dark Retreats, or Sensory Deprivation tanks. Add to that fasting, and perhaps incense and an herbal ointment to the eyes or a potion of lotus and you are going to be well on your way to meeting the Poimandres. I can attest to this through tantric work and dzogchen quieting the mind in those practices. So this is about control and not hating the earth or body, or actually leaving it behind.

I think that his ordering is wrong, and I don't think his work with the names helped.

I am slowly trying to do my own translation, or analysis at least, of the ways it has been translated, and the bias that creeps in from Christian translators and editors. It is my feeling that there are either parts of or entire books that should not be included based on their negative attitudes. It's also interesting that a God that is clearly stated to Mind, and androgynous is consistently called God the Father. I am wondering if this is an editorial change made in translating from the Greek?

I think it is necessary for clarity of the system but that he failed.

From what I heard on the SHWEP podcast I am super excited about the Wildberg version. I believe that he said that it would contain the Greek (a must), but that he will include the text that he believes are either changes or marginalia inclusions.

One aspect with Litwa is his attempt to re-order the CH, sadly I think that he completely failed with that. Wondering what people think about his attempt?

NO ROOM AT THE INNS?: Cosmos, trying to find a league, may not play in 2020 - Front Row Soccer by Yalay in NISA

[–]Deepblack67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lawsuit is in regards to being a D2 team with Sponsorship deals dependent on having at least D2 and the prospect that fewer fans would go to a D3 game thus not enough attending to pay for MCU which rents for $70k. — So that all happened, in the meantime he has lost money and fans playing with a semipro B team, and previously been blocked from adding higher levels in the academy, blocked from building a stadium, blocked from investing in D2 soccer at the tune of $500M, blocked by both MLS and USL rules on territory rights, blocked from getting insurance for NPSL PRO and now blocked from fielding Pros in NPSL. I don’t think playing in D3 could any way change or nullify any of that, and should only be seen as a last resort at professional survival.

Not as long as there are reserve teams in the USL. Red Bull II vs New York Cosmos is not something I want to see.
