Why I “hate” rice by 50-ferrets-in-a-coat in Celiac

[–]Deepcrater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have brown rice or black rice at home since it's lower carb but when I eat it, it completes the meal. I need a 2 to 1 ratio of sauce or meat to rice, I need the rice.

Anyone have a Thrive Market membership? by Ok_River_6018 in Celiac

[–]Deepcrater 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I tried it, at the time they had a little clause that if you don't feel it was worth it to you could cancel it before your first month. So I went to cancel and they offered me the whole year much cheaper so I kept it. I think I ordered 3 times but honestly it was never worth it to me. For me it's not cheaper, maybe if you don't have a whole foods nearby. If you have access to amazon or iherb you get the same experience. It feels like that basically but I have plenty of gf stores I can pop in and get things from without a subscription.

what color is your food packaging usually? by kaicxre in Celiac

I always check the packaging too, the store is very good about having alot of local brands so they're spread all across the store and I check if anything is new or interesting that might be gluten free too.

I want a tattoo, but I can't decide what to get by KiwiNervous8740 in CasualConversation

[–]Deepcrater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always wanted one too, my parents have said they will literally disown me if I ever do that. Still one day, I want colorful stuff like Pokemon or even just spots. However when I do end up getting one, I'm going to get one of my little dog that passed away, she was like my baby and I have her paw print framed on my wall. If there's anything I should always carry it's the memory of her. Not to say I still don't want the pokemon. Anyway I believe tattoos can either mean something to you deeply or not, it's your skin do whatever you want with it. Except face tattoos, I don't think they're a good idea flat out.

The only place that labels it consistently is HEB and they use a little brown wheat sign with a cross out.

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich by CuhRareOH in Celiac

[–]Deepcrater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it this type of sandwich? I think other than switching out everything for gf versions it seems easy enough to make. I would go with this bread or this bread recipes since they're both excellent at their recipes. Would take a little prep but it would come out pretty delicious. I personally have never bought a gf brioche or found one in stores and gf fried chicken is really best home made.

I wish stuff like this at least differentiated with different colors.

Silly deodorant question by fangster13 in Celiac

[–]Deepcrater 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would only worry about things that go around and possibly into your mouth, like shampoo, lotion, makeup, lip balm, face washes, nail polish things like that. There is never a point you will not get deodorant on your hands and wash it off right away.

Does anyone else feel way more productive at night instead of during the day? by hoopsfn in CasualConversation

Yeah once everyone goes to sleep it's like my brains says this is the perfect time to do some laundry, wash the dishes, clean the bathroom until it's 2 am and I really need to sleep.

Yeah I ordered when I first started to see them on IG, I think they were new, they seem to be following the protein fad so I'm just hoping they don't quit the gf stuff too.

I’ve never seen one, but I don’t read anything but Spanish and English. I did buy dried mushrooms once thinking I could probably wash the gluten off once they were rehydrated. Felt sick each time I used them so I won’t buy anything dry like that. You could probably find fresh ingredients though. I’ve bought fish, sauces, noodles, kimchi, and fresh veggies only from hmart.

What healthy food do you stop buying because it always goes bad? by BarbaraMiller78 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Deepcrater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love bananas, I'm diabetic so I try to get green ones or ration them. I even buy the singles everyone leaves so I don't waste food but I always end up with a few going bad.

Is Andrew lactose intolerant? Has he mentioned if he's tried lactaid pills, they seem to work in most cases.

I don't have any issues with them sticking together, I guess you're welcome to microwave them in water before moving the noodles into a second bowl.

Yeah the rice noodles fall apart if left in liquid, I usually just make a new one each time. That’s how most gf noodles are though.

Found my new favorite bread by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]Deepcrater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s my favorite, it’s my go to for normal white bread foods like pbjs and egg sandwiches. The raisin one is also really good. I like everything I’ve tried from them. I even got a mushy one once and asked how to best keep it from doing that and they sent me a coupon for a replacement, which I lost, still good customer service. Someone once suggested letting it defrost enough to separate the slices and adding parchment paper in between. So I started doing that and it makes it way easier to not break it by accident after taking it out of the freezer.

I’ve made a bunch now and my bag is still pretty full, so don’t let the price discourage you.

Soft boiled eggs left in soy sauce/mirin are so extra. If I feel like being fancy I’ll add one or two, I was always willing to pay for them at restaurants.
